On the face of it it seems we have somebody among us with a different moral compass.
Unless of course I am wrong and the seller will be splitting all profits (after eBay fees) between a donation to the club and the original owner? Nah, didn't think so.
Is there anything we can do to stop this sort of thing happening again?
Only snap up the freebies as soon as they appear! Then either fix them or move them on/ break them,as needed once assessed. Plenty of folk had the chance to do just that with this car, but all the usual excuses came out, "it's too far" or "I don't have enough space" I even offered to house it myself, but was unable to arrange transport, so I guess i'm one of the excusers too!
A couple of years ago, I got a free 2 door Toledo from another member here. Realizing that, though it had a lot of potential, I didn't really have time for another project, I sold it on. But I sold it with a good quantity of new parts and panels needed to rebuild it from my own stock, which, in my opinion, justified the sale. At this point, we don't know whether any value has been added by the current owner/seller which would justify a sale rather than another gift. Let's not get the pitchforks out just yet!
