I have some new photos taken before Christmas, hopefully the last with rust on (for a little while anyway) as it's booked in in March to get sorted.

I have accumulated quite a lot of parts over winter, and more may be on the way if I keep on being tempted by Trackerjacks brake conversion!

Just need to find the motivation to get out in the cold and start fitting them!

Couldn't agree more, loads of spares and the only free time I have, wake up early and do the job between 4am to 6am.

Well over due an update, so all this has been done in the last couple of months:
(A note to any purists, all removed parts are being kept and stored safely, I aim to be able to put the vehicle back to largely original specification if required in future)

New steering UJ, improved steering feel so much, combined with a new steering wheel (I couldn't stand the tiny rimmed original)

Took the car to a mate's workshop for the weekend and ticked a few things off,
Replaced old, slightly suspect brake hoses with new Goodridge Classic hoses
Rebonded the vinyl at the top of the c-pillars
Replaced speedo cable
Removed rear bumper and tested fitted rear wheels, looks pretty damn good, although may have to use a smaller tyre due to arch clearance issues
Removed front bumper under riders, may do the whole bumper at some stage.
Replaced the RHF quarter light so I can actually open it now
Screwed the mirrors into the doors properly, so may be able to see something out of them rather than them just flopping around
Lowered front shocks down to the lowest level, after freeing up many years of rust on the shock body.

Also I have a new set of wheels so decided to test this those,

Rear bumper removed and rear wheels fitted, looks so much better without the bumper IMO, and who needs number plate lamps anyway!

Currently the car is down at Restoshack in Devon, removing all kinds of rust. It was pretty bad is some places, but the guys down there are doing a truly epic job. I'll let the photos show what I mean.

Picked the Compomotives up from the re-furbishers last week, proper happy with how they look, can't wait to get them on the car

I can't believe how much rust there is on that front panel now. Here's a pic of when I was restoring it...

I know how you feel Mart. ERO has become much the same after I too had it looking like your photo a few years ago.

I can only conclude that it comes from inside the panel somehow and eats its way out from uderneath.

Some nice work on PUS there. I'll be doing the same to mine soon....

It does not look better without a bumper....

Wheels are interesting but my main concern is the absence of the column flexible coupling. I wonder how much extra stress goes on
the rack and mounts and the bulkhead bush without it.

Nice car though PUS....

I'll be uprating the rack mounting bushes to poly versions in the near future, other than that we'll have to see. Considering the somewhat concerning failures of couplings, the UJ seemed a much better option.

And the bumperless look is one that will always divide opinion :)

Have you seen what I did with my coupling? I have polybushes on it.

The coupling's don't really fail, the rubber just goes all soft, Poly Bushes should solve the problem.

Depends which one you have - there are two types of FRAM1718

Early type can be rebuilt using as James say's poly bush kit the later one is a throw away and purchase new. The retension screws ends have been hit with a square punched so they wont vibrate loose. I wll try and find some picture of the two types.

Been a while seen I've updated this again, a fair bit has occurred since then but I've been out using the car more than anything!
Got it back from Restoshack, nice 4 hour drive back with a badly blowing downpipe, but the bodywork looks amazing so was definitely worth it!
Replaced the downpipe with a nice stainless version, needed a bit of tinkering with the custom centre pipe to get it to fit but thanks to the local Powerflow dealer it now all fits lovely. The car runs and sounds so much better for it too.
Fitted my Compomotives, recently refurbed in grey.
Fixed the overdrive wiring that had chaffed through near the steering rack and rerouted it in a far better way.
Fixed a fuel leak from the rear float chamber (that was leaking dangerously close to the chaffed wiring!)
Removed the front bumper and fitted black and silver number plates to finish the exterior off.

It's probably not to everyone's tastes now, but I love it. It's also now in fantastic condition with all the rust sorted out, and I've kept all the original items so can be put back to standard should the need arise.
