I noticed that's a 36AH battery, is that big enough: https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car- ... &&cc5_1026 This one is type 015, fits a Dolomite, but is 45AH https://www.tayna.co.uk/LP015-Lucas-Pre ... P9848.html |

Incidentally you probably know that Car Parts 4 less is ECP's 'budget' brother. Same products but usually cheaper than ECP, you just need to order online, you can't collect. My Lion battery in the MX5 btw is fine, been doing sterling service for the last 18 months. |

Still no sign of the battery. I'm sure I specified same day delivery when I ordered it. I'll pay a visit to my local branch and if I get no joy, I'll get a refund (I paid with PayPal so I can claim my money back). Mark I didn't know about Car Parts 4 Less being a budget version of ECP. Somebody on the CT forum pointed out that Lidl are selling battery chargers at the moment so I'm going to get one. I won't let my new battery go the same way as the previous one and I can also use it on the caravan's leisure battery as well. |

I went to my local branch and they'd tried THREE times to deliver the battery so it was waiting from me when I got there. I've bought a battery charger from Lidl. I don't know how long the link will be live for. At £13.99 it was worth a punt. |

The lidl does buy these also from aliexpress for 3,81 including shipping so I would take out the plug before going to sleep. These were lidl chargers too.

Be careful using that Dave I have also seen members on other make sites that I am a member of have had these bursting into flame and burning down garages and destroying cars. So far a Rover 75 Launch car, Merc, and Rover P6B. With your car kept under your house I would not chance using this, I would hate to hear what may happen if you do. |

I had no idea that these chargers were a known risk and have been shown to be the cause of a number of fires and utter complete devastation to property, valuables and no doubt livelihoods. As well as the physical damage, the emotional torture and havoc that these things do is beyond repair. Obviously the grief caused by this destruction is inconsolable in many cases and I for one will be saving myself from this needless self-harm. |

All cheap chargers are a risk. The c-tek one's are totally reliable and actually the standard for all chargers. Here in NL the most recommended and sold. Jeroen. |

Enough, this is getting out of hand. Reference the so called Lidl chargers, the ones on sale today are not Lidl branded. Please provide links to the official reports so we can all learn which chargers were to blame, if indeed they were. thanks, Ian. |

Ihave heard nothing but good things about the lidl chargers. And yes, it is a "smart" charger, and works in a similar way to the ctek ones.And it seems it lasts well according to users... If I didn't have a commercial charger (very clever) I would be buying one... |

James, I'll be checking the battery more often and it won't get left for months on end. If need be, I can remove the battery and charge it at my leisure so this type of charger will be fine for me. The same goes for the caravan battery. I hoping to get the battery and my earth lead fitted tonight. A good earth will be condusive to a good spark. I want to turn my attention to the ignition system next. I reinstated the original Delco dizzy and I will stick with it. I now think that having the correct advance curve is more important that I thought before. I want to get it running on points and condenser so if anybody can recommend decent quality items I'm all ears. I was considering fitting my spare set of HS4s but I'll worry about that as soon as I've got the ignition side sorted out. The dizzy cap, rotor arm and HT leads are relatively new but I'll replace them if I have to. |

Tonight's work has been scuppered by the weather and the fact that it took me FOUR hours to get home from work, a journey that normally takes me just over an hour. Snow isn't really conducive to spannering outside even though the carport is a couple of degrees warmer than being totally open to the elements. There is still some voltage in the old battery because I had to get some stuff out of the Dolly's boot on Sunday and the boot light was illuminated. It would be interesting to see what the voltage on the battery is. |

Good time to check the boot light does not stay illuminated when shut. |
