Yeah, a dizzy 90 deg out would put a dampener on it starting?! Move the plug leads round 1 place and give it a try? (As a short term solution) |

Is isn't exactly 90 degrees out so I'll just take the dizzy out and get is set up properly. |

If there was a price to give for who used the terms "battery" "charge" "volts" and "dizzy" most in one topic you would win it. Jeroen |

It is probably near enough one of 60 or 120 degrees out, as the drive is hexagonal. Or it is 90 or 180 degrees out if the leads are connected incorrectly.Or it is both. Or it is just too far out to get the engine to fire. |

I've been out to it and it is in EXACTLY the right place (d'oh!). I've managed to set the static timing as per the Haynes method with a test light. I've got the battery on charge and once that is done I'll be ready to attempt a start up. |

Phew, I was getting worried that it hadn't been charged recently. I can sleep easy tonight.

Spot on, I forgot the drive is a gear directly on the distributor shaft. How many teeth on the drive though? if there are 6, I am still correct Can't wait for the battery to charge. And some fresh fuel in the float chambers. |
