So, PYD is finally finished. The overdrive box has transformed the car in real world usage and I have covered about 80 or so "test" miles. Everything has bedded in quite nicely. This has been an ordeal, and a lesson learned. What I thought was an easy quick finishing off job has actually been an almost total restoration. Much of that was my fault - when I first bought the car instead of cracking on with it I left it in storage for literally years due to commitments with my then new business. I only actually got it back to Bromley just over two years ago. This is now pretty much a new car underneath and with a freshly rebuilt engine should give someone good service. But that someone won't be me sadly. Things have gone full circle in that I sold my shares in my business in late May this year and so am starting another new business (again) - albeit with somewhat more modest aspirations. At least I know what is ahead of me. In addition, some members know that I remarried in April this year after over ten years on my own and, as of six weeks ago, have a wonderful baby daughter to keep me occupied. So, something has to give; and keeping an eclectic collection of about nine classic cars at any one time is one of them. I am condensing my collection to my two Austins - the Healey and the rally A40, as they are the two that mean most to me. So somebody is going to get a very nice 1300 Dolly. The listing is here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292204187551? ... 1557.l2649 I have deliberately put it at no reserve because I am genuinely interested to see what it goes for. I have spent well over five grand (excluding the purchase price from Mike), and I know what I would like it to go for, but that and reality are very different things. With values for all Dollies rising though you never know. When PYD is gone, I shall get the A40 finished off and have some fun in it for a while, though I could be persuaded by a nice Toledo - arguably my favourite model in the range. The bug never leaves you - it just rests a while I suppose. Happy, obviously to answer questions about PYD, and hopefully, it will end up back on this board at some stage. |

The link works fine for me, and a great write-up. The link in the advert to the resto thread works as a copy/paste. The images from the resto aren't available. You have a bidder! Good luck. |

Well, the buyer has been in touch promptly and sounds a super chap, who has bought the car for nostaligic reasons. We are arranging getting it to central Ireland between us. It's been about this little car! |
