Righto, the new Projects and Restorations area; My original Sprint purchase needs to make an appearance :D

For those of you that don't already know, I bought this car in Feb 2007 with the intention of getting it through its MOT straight away.
I was then going to drive it as and when and decide if I wanted to spend a bit more cash on a nicer, more permanent one.

All was going well until what I thought was solid underneath just gave way as it was just the underseal holding everything in place
This then changed my outlook on the car completely, I started stripping it back and a friend came and gave more than a hand in removing the engine and took on quite a lot of welding.

We were working from the front of the car rearwards, it has had two club chassis rails and inner arch repairs along with lower screen surround welding.

Since early 2008 the car has been stored under a cover and more recently in a temporary nylon garage thingy. It has had no work done to it at all as my friend and his partner had their first child.
I then got bored of it and bought the Green Sprint to try and enjoy driving a Sprint (which I love). I also got married and now we have our first child too.

This Pimento Dolly has been at the bottom of the list of priorities as far as its restoration goes but as more jobs get done elsewhere it is slowly creeping up the list.
I have quietly sourced a vast number of spare parts so not much is needed for it other than the time to repair and spray the shell followed by a decent reassembly.
It is going to be a fast road spec car, DMS2 cam and associated extras. HS8's or maybe MegaSquirt injection, mappable ignition etc.
It will still be a road car and won't have a cage in it.
Street and trackday stuff are what I have in mind 8) Call it 'Oldboyracer spec' if you will

I'll put up a few pics to show the story so far very soon.

Keep it real

So a quick wash late and it looked like this

I started work on getting engine running, cleaning out the carbs, renewing the plugs, checking fluids etc.

I got it started but it ran quite poorly, I think an inlet side air leak was to blame.

Then I spotted this which was under the under seal....

Which then turned into this....

Is a screwdriver really the best thing to use as the pin for an axle stand :( ?

Axle stand? Screwdriver? Why do I get the feeling I can only see half of these pictures...
And, err, I've used worse...

Also, ouch. Not too promising a start there then...
