yeah, 350lc Allspeeds welded to T500 front pipes.
I actually built that bike from all the spare bits I had in my loft at the time; T500 frame & engine, Z1000 2/4 seat, GPz400 suspension & brakes, LC exhausts, 1200 Bandit rear suspension unit.
Obviously I did a few mods to the frame !

Went to the Sheffins sale today with my mate, Andrew.

In the small car sale section was a white 1850 auto with a mint black cloth interior. It had mileage in the low 20K region. The wood door cappings and dash were lovely, totally unfaded and overall the car was very good indeed with only minimal corrosion issues on the A pillars and on the rear arches (and I do mean minimal). The only issue that I could see was a repair to the lower valance were it joined the o/s front wing. There was no join evident. The chassis number was WF10502DLA. The car sold for £1650 (not including buyers/sellers premiums).

There was a very tatty Mk2 Lotus Cortina with chunks of filler in evidence, but it still went for just over double the nice Dolomite.

Could have bought a nice yank steam engine for just over £31,000. Bargain. There was also a Honda Benly in the bike section but we left before that hit the podium. Overall a good day, but tiring on the feet, legs and back.

Been a while since news on this car but there have been developments :o

Firstly, the coughing and spluttering has been cured. Dodgy connection on the old coil, so fitted a new one and it's running lovely :D

Secondly - and more surprisingly. I've got to move it on. It's really a victim of it's own success. The Dolly as a model is such a lovely car we decided that we needed more of a "workhorse" and thanks to Roy's efforts, this is such a lovely original example that it wouldn't seem fair on the car.

It's a bit of a wrench as opportunities to be the custodian of a car like WF0929 don't come along very often and if I could afford it - both financially and parking space wise I would certainly keep it.

So it's off to ebay I'm afraid but I would prefer it to stay within the club, so pm me with any reasonable offers.

Cheers
Jeff

That's a real shame Jeff, I hope someone in the Club does take it on.

All the best.

I've just seen this car in the current Classics Monthly. I'm surprised that Rob hasn't noticed it.

Nice to see a very important car receiving a sympathetic restoration and to a high standard at that, nice one Roy. Hope this 1850 finds a really caring home.

Hi,

I am going to be buying this Dolomite on Saturday. I am in the process of joining the club as we speak. Money sent and waiting on the reply! As with Jeff, I would feel like I was stealing something if I wasn't part of the community!

I will probably be asking lots of questions as time goes on!

Well.....it's gone.

A bit of sadness chez Jeff but very pleased that it has gone to a good and appreciative home - and Jon's TDC membership is pending too.

Result!!

Cheers
Jeff

I expect I will, next job is fitting a modern radio (sacrilege i know), but i need music when i am driving! Jeff gave me a spare back parcel shelf with speakers in so I do not have to cut up the original.

I have been doing a bit of tinkering today, had a good poke about under the bonnet and filled the dash pots on the carbs, fixed the overflow water container as a pipe was a little loose. Also painted the spare wheel well with black hammerite to stop any rust arriving.

I have discovered a leak into the driver's footwell, is this a known or common problem? I am guessing it is coming in through the windscreen seals?
