Its been all go with the little Triumph lately..

the back door has been seam welded up and stripped of old paint and rust

Image

Image

and bolted on just to make sure nothings changed shape wise (which thankfully it hadnt!)

Image

Image

drivers door has also been stripped off and ready to go on the car prior to applying filler to even any minor inperfections out with regards to the overall shape of both doors and the sill.

Image

Image

next (and hopefully last!) major welding/repairing job is the passengers side headlight surround and the area around here

Image

as you can see its not pretty but its not quite as bad as the other side was when that was first stripped back

here it is again with the worst parts cut out and repaired, a lot of it looks awful but is actually solid so i plan to tidy it up with a grinder and flap disk and any further bits that need cutting out will be done after that.

on to the engine bay, the head was stripped, valves reground in and new valve spring seats fitted as the old ones had cracks in them. the cylinder bores looked absolutely fantastic though!

engine bay was taken back to bare metal too..

Andrew,
it is good to see you are making progress. (I did think it had been a while since we'd heard from you.)
You are nearing the brow of the hill, so it is all downhill to the finish :D .

Ian.

Just a little update... Toledo is now off to be painted, finally after 3 years!

Image

A local company called Macintyres of Gosforth based in Wylam will be doing the work. they specialise in classic restorations.
more soon!

What a great restoration, the lever of work and effort that has gone into this is great... I can only hope to give my Toledo the same amount of love some time soon!
