I keep coming back to this and being amazed at the work you are putting into this car. When i owned it i thought it was just needing a few little bits tidying up, i never know it was in the state it was :o

And to think of the times i had been driving it on the motorway, it just doesn't bear thinking about.

Its been another fair while since i updated this its high time i let you all know whats happening!...

here we are fitting the chrome door strips and handles, had quite some bother fitting the windows and internals but once youve done one you see a pattern to the assembly and it gets a lot easier!

I used some sheet polythene to make internal splash curtains to stop the door cards warping etc..

Carpets were next, sadly i forgot to take more than 1 photo! which were followed by seats which werent too much trouble

Image

as the old headlining was in pretty bad shape i decided to scrap it and got a fairly decent one fron ebay which apart from being a bit fiddly glueing into place was a lot easier to fit than i thought

in with the windscreen

the boot lid and bonnet had to be taken away again and repainted as some of the repairs had sunk (rushed work i suspect) but while they were away i repainted the boot interior and got on with fitting rear bumpers

brand new corners in bandages

Image

all cleaned up..

lid back and all fitted up.

next up the rest of the interior was sorted out...

everything was fitted in the engine bay but it needed a good clean up and wipe down

I took it for a few drives up and down the street, The timing needed a little bit of fettling as it was backfiring when under load but now runs very smoothly!

heres the first drive in about 4 years...

Here she is at the weekend after a good wash, polish and wax:

I booked it in for an MOT in the 14th (currently today as i write). It was a bit risky getting it to the garage which is about a mile away due to it not being taxed or insured or anything (should have trailered i know!) but all went well... so much so that i ended up with this...

A Pass!! only 2 advisories, one because the brake pipes were coated in waxoyl and the tester couldnt see their actual condition even though they are in excellent shape. The second was due to a bit of play in the steering rack inner ball joint on the drivers side, so thatll be sorted at some point before the next MOT

There's a thread about Northern Dolly Day HERE

There is no cost as such but we do get reduced admission to the Abroetum.
