Indeed it will be filled with the sticky stuff. Not sure what but PF Autos are VAG approved body centre so I imagine it will be something that they use. Can't remember the last time I saw a rusty VW! I know he said it was brownish so it was easier to see where it's been applied.
Pretty sure VAG use Dinatrol, certainly that matches the description of being brown. It's wonderful stuff - just don't try drinking it that's all!

Things are moving on apace at the moment. Called down to give sign off prior to topcoat today. Car is in a primer at the moment to allow me to gauge the shut lines, door and panel fit. Looks fantastic, next time I see it it'll be orange all over.

I've got the day off on Monday so i'll be popping down to see it being flatted and polished. It should be with me this time next week!

Excellent stuff Mark. You'll soon be ready for the best bit, putting it all back together. :D

Edit: ...or should that be, putting it all together?

Had the day off today so popped down to check progress on the flatting and polishing stage. Work was well advanced when I arrived at 2:30pm so not that much to see. Angus was working on the back panel, you can just about see where it has been flatted prior to him going over with a mop and some Farecla G3. He'll go back over it again with a finer compound before moving onto the doors, bonnet etc. I must admit I forgot to look at them in more detail but they should be fine if the rest of the shell is anything to go by.

Colour in the metal is as expected and the finish is also better than expected. The sills and other parts will have their satin black applied tomorrow and then it will be filled with cavity wax. Then a final clean off, back on with the wheels and the 2 mile journey home will begin. Depending on when the wheels etc arrive from storage I should receive the shell back this week.

The shell has now received it's black sill and rear paint and is back on its temporary wheels when I popped down this morning to settle up the invoice :(

The doors will be re-hung this morning and then it will be cavity waxed using a high pressure lance before being cleaned and loaded onto the transporter for the short journey home this afternoon. This will now mean my Mazda is demoted to the driveway, I think it has got rather used to living in the dry garage.

Well the shell arrived this evening!

Paul arrives with his Dad in the big truck, I could see them coming about 1/4 mile away as it's so bright

Here's Paul gently winching it down

And that's it for now!

First job, assess the finances then move onto a few little jobs before tackling the wiring as the first major job.

Wiring and brake and fuel pipes are the first things to go in, just as in the factory! Good luck, it looks absolutely STUNNING! :eyes4u: :eyes4u: :eyes4u: :eyes4u:
