Great to see you attempting such a project!
I'll follow this with interest - white sprints look fantastic IMO!

Quick up date! MOT booked for next wednesday. Not convinced it will sail through, but at least I will have an up to date 'to do' list!

OH NO FAIL!
Looks like I will have to break out the welder....
Four bits of welding to do and one side light out. Actually not too bad, it's a shame I don't like welding. probably cos I am not too good at it. Can usually keep the MOT man happy though....

Hope I can find the time in the next 10 days to get my free retest...

Very nerve-racking taking a first proper drive! At least I now know the overdrive works!
Throttle linkage needs looking at, hard to get smooth action.
Other than that, quite please with my work on this car :D

My work here is done! :D

This car is now MOT'd
I shall probably continue to do odd jobs on this, but my intention is to now sell this.

Still a restoration, but now hopefully a rolling one.

Not leaving Dolomite ownership. will have some time, and hopefully some money to spend on my other car....

Aye - should be interesting, being as she's only done 15 miles in probably the last 20-odd years..?

....50-or-less all the way, my son has advised me....it's a long, long way to to tow...!

...you coming up to the meet tomorrow in Chesterfield..? Barring the weather, we'll be there....

...so after a short ( relatively !) time being restored - sh'es back on the road - in my new ownership - and on the road - everyday! ( only untill autumn, mind - don't want to kill the old girl!)

We'll see how we both get on - me with driving an Old, non-power steering car, and her with a grumpy old git, driving like a mad man!

..we'll both break down, throw hissy-fits, and generally get sick of each other at times, but hey?

...isn't that what love is...?

Will keep all posted in the day-to-day activity... :bluewave:

The pleasure you'll get outweighs all the grief. It'll be the problems that crop up after many years of non-use.

So...day-to-day running...would be great if I can find the root cause of my permanent overdrive..

..here's the solonoid...

Image
Image

it was a swine to get off - as the only 1 inch AF spanner I has was to fat - so after a little shaving, it came off...
Image

..now, do the seals look worn? - Im not so sure they look at all worn - but do they need to be fatter?
...if it isn't the seals/solonoid working ok - then electrics?

..it's looks like the gearbox/overdrive has had a new loom in recently, and no signs of damage...

Image

......started by putting a voltmeter thru all the loom, as James, our Local TDC rep did this for me last time, and found the loom from the gearbox up thru the stick and into the switch was'nt taking a current - so tried this first - all seems ok, then the main loom - ok
- by trial and error - should it be the solonoid...? any suggestions?

...on a lighter note - found these....

Image

..which really made my day - thanks Martin!

And I was so please when the overdrive worked on the MOT run!
Unusual I would have thought to fail in the'on' position.
Silly suggestion, have you checked the switch it's self?

Glad you like the shocks...and the adjusters work!.

..Cracked on today with the general tidy-ing up of Dylan, to make the old girl a little more presentable for the day-to-day driving over the spring/summer -

finally got round to painting various bits that looked a bit shabby-chic...

..front nearside wing, which had been buffed to hard, and rust was showing around the arch..
Image

..passenger front door bottom - which was encrusted in surface rust - awaiting primer..
Image

..rear drivers side arch - this had split the paint, and rust had got in..
Image

Image

..rear drivers side door aperture had all paint scrubbed off- did look very scruffy...
Image

...and lastly for today - stripped the drivers-side wing-end which had been repaired, I thought, with a
Club-panel repair section, as it's fibre glass over the lights...apparently not!
Image

Image

Image

..all this, and my son built a platform and ramps today, so we can work on our cars while their 2 foot in the air!
- he 's even building a sliding track to fit on the trolly - how clever is that..?
