Have you decided on a colour for yours yet?
in response to your question which you asked on your thread, this colour. Applejack green, it is a BMC colour which was used on 1275GT Mini's. i was delighted when i found that a british car company have a THE colour which i have wanted. saved me from using something Japanese such as Kawasaki Ninja Green.

(N.B. on my phone the colour looks so much brighter!)

Aye, nice colour!

since i am A) rather long in the leg. and B) going to be sitting in a bucket seat which is alot closer to the floor than an original seat, i needed to be sat further back.

Image

this just extends the available floor space on which we can fit the seat. obviously it is repeated on the outside of the car and on the passenger side.
I'm not convinced that seat mounting would pass scrutineering - they usually like it to be tied into the sill/tunnel. Have a look a K2.2 in this PDF. Common practice tends to be a square tube horizontally between sill and tunnel, with reinforcing plates both ends, and smaller tubes inset into it to take the bolts holding the seat mounts.

It doesn't need to. It isn't going to be raced. Alan (who has 30+ years experience in racing and rally cars) thinks that they're perfect for the job!

Fair enough - you mentioned scrutineering when you discussed belts, so I assumed you were intending to logbook it...

The belts thing was more a question of safety. It's a fact that in a heavy impact inclined belts would snap the back off a racing seat.

The same thing for the seat mounts, the picture below shows the 'FIA Approved' mounts. I know which ones I would prefer to be sitting on! :-P

I can't see anything in the MSA reg which says such an extension to the seat mount has to be attached to the sill and tunnel.

It says it has to be strong which is understandable.

Having done a bit more research - it is in the FIA Gp N regs, not the MSA ones:

http://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/ ... 9.2013.pdf (Page 20)

Not that it matters here, but might be useful for anyone thinking of building a competition car...

It's in the yard now, being fitted with gearbox prior to exhaust design.
Rebuild will be an episodic affair as Eldest saves up.

One of the new ones will probably be green, very green.
Another new one is green too but not as green as the previous one. Still pretty green. No, now it's Blue.
The other new one will be white with stripes. Actually it might not. No, it will be.
BUT, that one is definitely Yellow :=}
