i should edit that post.

it should say, "is the next step to get rid of the current paint and painted on filler? either by blasting or dipping"

Well well well.....here we are again :).

The car has been very kindly stored by my parents whilst I save up the money for the next block of work.

Some of it is stuff we didn't have time to do last time, some of it is stuff I wanted to do to achieve the look I want and the rest is stuff i've realised needs doing.

After inspection and quite alot of thinking(why does my head hurt?), I decided it needed to go back to Alan for some odd jobs before blasting/paint.

see pictures below and also my ramblings :)

firstly, the N/S/R subframe mount was a bit scabby and the tube was bent where someone had obviously put it on an axle stand or similiar.

remade and glued back in.

Image

remember we had to cut away at the gearbox tunnel so that the gearbox remote would fit? Alan put the strength back in :)

Image

Image

because the gear stick will be further back the handbrake also needs to be further back. Alan used a section we cut out of a scrap car to put in my shell.

The forward most holes will be deleted eventually so you wont see that it's moved.

I originally asked Alan to bend over the sill seam but he couldn't......it seems the the three layers of inner/diaphragm/outer welded together twice is pretty strong! This is to give clearance for the eventual exhaust tailpipe(yes it's going to be side exit)

Image

can't decide whether to plate this both sides or not

Image

a flat boot floor is something i've wanted for a while(sad, I know) so here it is. Alan also cut out some rust! *shock horror*

Image

Image

Image

Image

(the rusty bit was the smaller bit)
Image

the rest of the pictures are of purely cosmetic things which are fairly self explanatory.

Alan still has more work to do so there will be more pictures as and when :)..

Enjoy!

Pete

Gonna put some sort of fancy fuel cell in that boot now? 20 gallon baffled long range ally tank with internal pump and swirl pot? I'm thinking of something similar for the Carledo and have a local guy lined up to make it!

I'll be interested in one of those too Steve, depending on price of course! :)

Did he roll those recesses into the boot floor panel with a jenny? I'm impressed if he did.

I was looking for a quality deep throated jenny to make our boot repair panels but succumbed to a couple of press tools in the end.

i'm not sure how this happened but i havent got any pictures of the tank. Its an ally box tank which will live on a frame to keep it horizontal. there will be some kind of swirl pot but not internal, with dual Facet fuel pumps(in series).

Yes Alun, a vice mounted bead roller. We also used it on the front floor pans, and the firewall for the back seat panel.

edit: similiar to the ones seen here: http://www.wnealservices.com/acatalog/bead_rollers.html

Are you keeping the injection on the Redtop or succumbing to the unholy but awesome bike carbs?

Steve

Shaun, I haven't discussed money yet as the thing is still in the design stage. I'm still running a standard tolly tank at the moment which is a bit small for my taste, barely 8 gallons, along with a remote pump pulled off a scrap Espace and NO swirl pot at all. I was told "you must have a swirl pot or everything will go wrong/not work/blow up the pump/other dire warning" . Four problem free years later I'm telling theory to take a hike and going with the real world! So my only beef is with capacity which means that the new tank is quite low on the to-do list and a long way behind the remap!

You'll need a different manifold then (stating the obvious) and a stand alone ignition system like Megajolt but the induction roar should be awesome!
Personally, I rather like the injection system, its simple, reliable and efficient and easier to install than most people would imagine, the Motronic setup on the Carledo required only 5 wires connecting into the car to run both ignition and injection!

I have a manifold already, a Jenvey one but the fitment is the same.

Exactly, the induction noise and I think webers/dellortos look awesome, mine are the latter. Obviously they will be soda blasted etc eventually. :D

good evening all!

i have more progress :)

front mount for front tow strap

rear tow strap mount

Because the gear remote and lever is in a different place to standard, the hole in the gearbox cover is in the wrong place. Alan set to and intended to put it in the right place!

Snap!

I used a bit of angle, also the mounting point is offset so I can tuck my strap away.
