Not as of yet, I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do with it though, its just a matter of trying to package it all in so everything else fits. Once I have finished off with the last of the metal work I will drop the dummy block back in and start sorting that side of it and all of the pipe and wire routing.

Finally sorted the last of the cage and Brian finished off the welding.

More parts have been purchased.
Image
Oil stat & catch tank.

Image
Most of the electrical parts needed, wire, relays etc starter motor and oil cooler & FPR.
Ecu has also been ordered and should be here early next week.

Image
Dropped the dummy engine back in So I can mock fit all the hoses to work out positioning of all the ancillarys.

Image
Knocked up a mock up expansion tank, the proper one will be in ally.

I have had to send the oil pump back to pace as I ordered a long nose when on fitting a short nose would have fitted better.

Have moved on to some the more time consuming jobs now.
Brackets made for mounting the ECU, water pump control module and fuse box.
Wiring loom from the bulkhead sockets made up and fed into the car.
Image

5 Seperate looms going into the engine bay from bulkhead sockets.
The large bunch of wires is solely for the engine.
Image

Started running the wires to all the places they need to go and fuse box half wired up.
Image

Fuses, Relays & ECU pretty much all wired up at the control end, just need to sort out the earth termination points. moving onto sorting out the stalks today if I don't melt.
Image

Dry sump hoses running from the front to rear bulkhead, I had to stop the the dry sump system whilst I waited for the pump to be modified to a short nose which to nearly 4 months for some reason.

:? I am not sure about this arrangement of hoses?

The RH top hose on a Sprint (or 1850) is for the vent from the radiator.
I am thinking it will be better to fit a hose tail into the water transfer (at the back of the cylinder head) and use this to connect the heater input hose.

Also, I am thinking the expansion tank is a little low (relative to the engine). For filling/topping up you can undo the tank and hold it higher (if there is sufficient
give in the hoses), which is what I think you'll have to do because your strut brace limits the options for tank location.
With its takeoff from such a high relative position, will the flow of coolant to the heater be maintained at all times?

If I am talking rubbish please do tell me :D ,
I am finding this build fascinating and awe inspiring.

Ian.

You're not :)

However, it's worth considering how the water actually flows through a slant and where the heater is relative to everything else. The standard setup has the heater parallel to the radiator, that's where it is here it just looks a little different because the water pump has moved and the radiator is completely different. I forget exactly how the radiator hoses go.

I think the heater will be just fine as long as you can get all the air out when you fill it (hence the bleed valve in the heater hose). The tank is higher than it looks I think :)

and, you fill it through the plug on the top of the thermostat housing. :)

I would re route the heater hoses under the inlet manifold
I would also run a very small bleed of the heater hose back to the expansion tank so it was continusly self bleeding ,
I used a plastic restrictor in the hose with a pilot hole drilled in it
Instead of the bleed screw,

Ian.
I don't think I will have any issues with the take off I have used for the heater. As for the rad hoses yeah they are in a far from ideal position but due to the room I have on the inner bulkhead and the way the heater is fitted there is not a good solution. I will have another look and see if I can improve it.
Cheers for the comments all are welcome.

I Have moved the starter motor to the right side of the engine.
Image

Image
Cant say as I am massively impressed with the starter, I had both it and a lucas one on set up on the bench at the same time and the worn lucas one was both faster and more positive in engagement and disengagement. Happy with the alignment though.

Image
All the fittings for the dry sump hoses.

Image

Dry sump pump fitted on a temporary bracket and engine mount modified to clear, fortunately I had only held them together with 4 tacks.

Image
Column stalks wired up.

Image
More electrical parts turned up.
