Hello all. :bluewave: First let me introduce myself. My names Jon. I'm 33 years old and live in Suffolk. I currently have an 1965 Ford Anglia 105e, and a Civic Type R FN2, but here's the thing. I'm ready for a change and am "considering" selling the Anglia to start a project. I dont know if it's been done before but im looking at maybe a Vtec, from an S2000, into a Dolomite. i built my Anglia to a period spec with a crossflow on twin 40's, so it'd be nice to maybe try something newer. I'm a machine shop supervisor for Caterham technology innovation, (previously Caterham F1) So i have all the equipment and some great people around to help at the difficult bits. My wife had our first baby 4 weeks ago, so i feel after this year it's be a great time to start on a project.

So generally ATM im collecting all the info and parts here and there and speaking to a few people to see if it's a viable project. All thoughts welcome and appreciated. I nearly brought a dolomite about 8 years back, but instead went with a mkII Cortina. (I later sold that to my old boss) As i felt i just knew Ford better, but im definitely ready for a change and to learn something else.
A few photo's of my current fleet.

Welcome. :D

Love the Anglia, I remember poring over it at a show a couple of years ago.

Your plans sound interesting, a couple of other members have also considered the swap. I have a spare B20A engine (not 100% this is the correct code!) and have also threatened by Toledo with my Toyota 4AGE unit a number of times!

Good luck with your project. :D

Its time you stopped threatening and started spannering on this one Jim! Want me to do it for you?

On topic again, I also love that Anglebox, Retro cool at its best!
ISTR a few people have proposed the S2000 lump in a Dolly convo, the sticking point seems to be the Hondas excessively bulky gearbox but hey, if you've got patience and a big enough shoehorn, ANYTHING is possible! GO FOR IT!

Thank you for the nice comments on the Anglia.
I understand the gearbox will be the biggest problem and therefor will require some bulk head and tunnel mods. So silly question maybe, but do the automatic Dolomite's have bigger gearbox tunnels like the Anglia estate do?? And does the Sprint have the same under bonnet space as a 1300/1850 HL or does the sprint have bigger shock mounts?

They'll be many many more questions fired at you before i start to under take this project.

There is a white Toledo somewhere in the UK with an S2000 engine, it was on eBay last year I think.

I like my Dolomite Sprints but I also like your Anglian, spot on is that. If I had an Anglian like that I would be hanging on to it

The Sprint auto tunnel is wider than any other Dolly tunnel but slightly lower than the manual one so its swings and roundabouts. I spent considerable time modding my Toledo tunnel to clear the Omega gearbox I used and that's much smaller and shorter than the S2K box. With hindsight I should have started with a Sprint tunnel, oh well! At least its a bolt in part so its easy to experiment!
The underbonnet panelwork is the same on all Dollys and Tollys, the only difference between a Sprint and Toledo 1300 front suspension is the diameter (and rate) of the front coil springs but they both fit the same size hole. Its worth noting that the spring turrets will accept a fair bit of creative reshaping without compromising clearance, especially towards the bottom.

Thank you for the info. I'll definatly have to start with a Sprint. As im hoping the brakes and diff will be up to the job of the engine swap with out needing to change them. I'm going to enjoy this season with the Anglia first, but keep one eye out for the right dolly to come up, then step up my search after september. I'm hoping to get the whole thing done in two years. So watch this space.
