I'm a young lad had who's had a few cars and done work's on them, but this is the first rebuild the dream is to get the body as rust proof as possible on a fair working mans budget and once painted and styled to how i want , i will begin to build a chevy v8 and the running grear to put in after.

would like advise on any easy put on up grades ( any old parts that go on with out fabrication to make them bind ) ie, princess to pot calipers

for braking system

rear axle from a 1500 hl to some thing to take a upgraded v8 that possibly might have the same stud lay out ( if it exists )

and looking for any people that are cambridge way or people on facebook to chit chat idea's and dreams with

There have been V conversions done by various folk, so there should be plenty of advice to follow. That looks like a decent shell, so there shouldn't be too much 'repair' work for you to do.

Good luck with the modifying and keep everyone updated.

Ken

and cheers for colour votes keep having idea's and cant deside

was going to do the beneath of the car, arches and engine bay st orange but now thinking this might be a bit too crazy but its not allowed to be silver or black or the colour of the car any idea's lets hear what paint job and under would look best

Fantastic (8J?) slots! :D You may need some arch extensions though!

Have a look at the colour/stripe combinations available on the square-jawed 1969 Camaro - great inspiration there.

Good luck with your project. :D

HMMMMMM, tasty...!!!

I think looking at late 1960's and early 1970's GM muscle cars is a must for paintwork inspiration here...

I shall be keeping a very close eye on how this project progresses

I think there 8j im young and metric :P 205 wide, not sure what car they would have come of but think they came from AUS originally and say for off road use only :P

Yeah im a muscle car fan and as far as dolomite goes its the nearest shape I could think of to make a UK muscle car with my budget.

Although this maybe be the point dolomite fans start to hate me, I did plan on getting metal quarters to wide body the car but there is none in a great condition for a price I can stretch to, and plan to chop the little middle bit out the grill and put mesh across and maybe have single lights instead ,

might even make it two door and weld back doors up

What are peoples hates with this then?

I would still keep the twin headlights myself.

The V8 chevy is too heavy.

Use the ally rover instead...

Yeah I may keep twin head lights see how it looks as it goes be alot easier than finding or converting them to have main and dipped in one head light,

I really did consider the Rover lump but im a big fan of Santa pod and I have many mates in the cobra scene so getting proformance parts will be easier and more affordable , plus alot more tuneable and reliable at higher power but yes this car will not handle if I could turn the wheel :P

Thanks Maynard. They're plastic. I got them off ebay many years ago. I'll try to find the website that was selling them.

Edit: Found them...
