Hello all, thought it was time to put this on forum.
Saved from local scrapyard in May, was listed on Ebay a few times but had no takers, I was'nt looking for dolly at time but it was going to be crushed so could'nt let that happen.
Its a very early Dolly reg on 13th Jan 72 and is in remarkable condition considering it does'nt look to have been restored much before, came with two original service books stamped to 60k.
Has had 1850 engine removed and Range Rover v8 put in(by previous owner), not plumbed in just resting on subframe no gearbox, other running gear seems to have been replaced by sprint parts and the interior.
Will need some welding, obvious issues are both sills on leading edge, offside front subframe mount and rear offside arch is a bit nasty .
Underside is very good only surface rust but is unfortunateley dented due to being on rack in scrapyard.
Since getting it I have just given it a good clean, replaced tyres and polished alloys, dont have anywhere to store it so it is parked behind my shop outside, have to keep it clean so it doesnt look abandoned.

Whats next ? not sure I have three other classic cars in use so a fourth just seems silly.

What's the commission number. The lowest I know of was WF929 that belonged to a guy called Jon before the car met an untimely demise...

It seems this car has been talked about in here before:

I remember it from eBay, glad it hasn't been scrapped.

That will be where I recognised it from, I know the previous owner and it was indeed local to me.

Have a nice TR7 engine and 3 rail o-d box that would go nicely in that....

Could also cobble together an early original 1850 with bergs if originality was required....

I was soooo tempted when it was on ebay but just dont have the space...so glad you saved it.

PM me if interested.

Wasn't it Car Components in Gosport?

Yes it was car components, Gosport previous owner lived in Gospot too he owned it since 1999.
Com number is WF2590DL so not one of the first.
Not sure what to do with engine, either carry on what's been started, take it back to original spec or something else.
Thanks for offer of engine but my brothers got a TR7 engine and box I could use but long term would like more power for occasional track days.
First priority is to get it garaged.

You will need some Dolly bits to put the 7 engine in....

It doesnt fit as it is. And the TR7 box wont be much use.

PM me if you need the klow down. I've done it to 2 dollies now....

TrustNo1 let me know about this, I'm delighted to see my old car has survived. A bit of a shame that it's had an engine conversion, particularly as it's such an early car, but at least you have the option of finishing the job properly or reverting to an OHC engine. If the latter option appeals do give me a shout, I have two 1850 engines that I won't be able to utilise now: one mated to a manual overdrive 'box, the other low mileage with automatic transmission.
