The chassis legs are not really strong enough to jack the car up, always use the front subframe or for jacking the back up use the axle.

If you have you use a jack under the sills use a length of wood to spread the load, inboard of the sill lip at each end.

Sorry to hear the car has a bit more rot than you first though, I am always suspicious when the underside of a car is thick with underseal.
