Hi All!
I thought I would start a thread on here as opposed to posts on facebook as i'm going to hopefully do a lot in the next few days to get my dolly through the MOT.
What i've done so far:
Wiring loom - total replacement as it was completely fubar
Handbrake - New cables and new lever
Rear brakes - new shoes, put back the missing 'H' pieces from both sides, adjusted so they are right (hopefully)
Exhaust Fixed a hole with GunGum
Front pads (offside) - Not done nearside yet as I can't get the wheel off
Brake master cylinder - Replaced the seals and bled the system
Front lights - re-created a loom for the front lights and put relays in place. I'll go halogen when the budget isnt so tight
Underseal! Got under it on my back and scraped away a lot of the old underseal, it's pretty solid underneath, only surface rust which I've treated and waxoyled
Fluid change all around
Steering bush - The bush through the firewall was non existant, so put one in
Ignition wiring - Some fool had put the wires on backwards so had to re-wire and pray
Head gasket change - Everything off, had the head skimmed and everything checked. They claim it's all fixed but keep reading
Filler - Fixed a few niggles
So yeah - thats so far. I'm going to hopefully get it to the MOT place tomorrow..
It WILL fail on:
The large hole in the chassis leg but as it's not been on the road since i've owned it I figure it might be useful to know what else is wrong with it so I can get it sorted.
Unfortunately the HG doesnt seem to be sealing right so i'm going to re-do it with a gasket from rimmers as opposed to an unknown (not to mention cheap) HG from fleabay.. so it will probibly fail on emmisions as well
One of the wheel studs has decided to come away from the splines too so I need to find a way to get that off so I can change the nearside brakes..
Tomorrows jobs - try and get the mixture to a level where it runs and worry about it failing when i'm down there. The guy is sound and he said that he is happy to get the mixture right while plugged in to the gas analyser (not during the test itself of course)
Plug the headlight relay in as I only got one today
Secure the battery in place and clip any straying wires to the body.
Future jobs - Head gasket and whatever it fails on. I think I might make a video of me changing it, prehaps (assuming I do it right) it could be of some use as i've not managed to find anything like it on youtube.
Some pictures can be seen below
The first time I saw it
Home number 1
Transporting to home number 2 for repairs
Yummy...
Brake fluid..
The rather large hole
Ironically... all the lights worked...
Changing the loom/remaking the front lights
I'll take some pics tomorrow hopefully - probibly will need your help along the way!
