The Triumph Dolomite Club - Discussion Forum

Now that I have done a add for parts now to start my post on any progress small are large.
The sprint was moved to workshop on friday (not derivable at present)
Great guy with a octopus lift moved it and help me and my other half get it in on the dollies (it is her car)
I sorted all the parts that have been with the car all in good order inc the jan speed exhaust on Saturday and today both of us go down to have a good look in all the boxes .will add any photos as time allows

I suggest that you join the Club. It will be money well spent. Photos are a must but I suggest that you upload them to a hosting site such as Photobucket or Flickr then you can just post the appropriate link in your forum post. Keep us posted with your progress and if you have any questions just ask.

i know it has a few welding hours in her
but it is a good job i can weld and with some help along the way i hope to find parts to limit the welding on her with doors etc save a bit of time too and i will keep the images forth coming ,

If the upper panels are that bad, what are the floors and sills like?

the floor is done its the boot bottom only like that the sills are shot but i can replace those inner panels on front are good wings are fibreglass it looks a lot worse than it is really and i will make what i cannot replace if it works out well next year it will be on the road

I'd be seriously thinking about putting a 1300 or 1500TC shell to better use here....

That one looks more trouble than its worth.

Me too. I don't remember seeing one with quite such bad upper body rot.

Yeah, destroy another genuine, original and increasingly rare model in favour of 'saving' a bog standard example of the most common model. Except it won't really be saved because it won't be the real car, just a recreation. Stupidity like this is the reason I scrapped what little of VA41 came into my posession. You of all people Jonners should know better.

Go for it Daveyboy, I'll be cheering you all the way home rather than discouraging you.

Far more satisfaction to know you have restored rather than swapped over..

I was also advised to re-shell..no bleedin' way!

I'm with Julian and Reg here. Best to keep as much of it original as possible. The numbers are dropping across the whole Dolomite range so it would be best to save an individual car where possible rather than sacrificing a "lower" model to reshell. The OP can weld so that won't be a problem.
