I would take a photo' of the progress, but we can just use the last one!

I have cleaned the block of all debris now, but that's about it.

Still a bit of progress though Alun, all helps and sadly all takes time which seems a precious commodity these days doesent it!! :-) it is sounding excellent though.

Well greetings from the other side of the pond, home of the V8 and Colt .45 :D
I sat down last night and wondered what had happened to my 'quicksprint' after I showed some friends here in the States pictures of me flying round Castle Combe circuit, found that the old site was gone so I rejoined after finding the new site. How you doing Alun? Man just looking at the pictures of my old car in good hands makes me so happy, what the hell are all those bits ? When I built the engine it had all new parts from Rimmers if I recall .
I do recall a conversation with the 'person' who purchased the car from me ( in hindsight I wish I hadn't) say that he accidentally went from 4th to 2nd instead of 5th gear a couple of times  if only I had of known he wouldn't be able to drive it properly I would of kept it until the right person had come along.
Good to see Jonners and Malcolm are still around, fond memories of talking to you guys at the events, I bet you still remember me badgering you for info on the UNIPART sun strips eh Malcolm ?
Still have all the pictures of the car showing before and after the 'rebuild' . Remember well the countless hours of pumping Waxoyl into all the crevices after the bodywork was done, when I parked it on the drive in the summer is used to drip waxoyl everywhere LOL.

Welcome to the forum Steve. I've seen this car in the metal and it should be good once Alun has got it up and running. It had some head problems when I saw it a few years back. There are a few Dolomites Stateside. I remember a white Sprint that once belonged to Richard Truett (he posted on here under "USASPRINTMAN") of Detroit. I met him once when he visited Coventry and was able to supply him with a steering rack locating plate which was missing from his Sprint from when Canley Classics restored the car before it left these shores. I'm not badmouthing Canley's but Dolomites aren't really their forté.

Ahh the good old steering rack retainer , if I remember correctly I modified the one fitted to prevent the steering rack moving .
I have not seen any Dollies in this area but did come across a British Car Specialist not too far away who had a sad looking collection of Rover P6's, a couple of SD1's ( yes really) and a TR7 ,sadly they looked like parts cars. I did see sometime ago a Peugeot 405 driving down the Turnpike but luckily I was driving the other way ............. remember well working on those :?

Going off topic a bit...

Did you know that Rimmer's bought a job lot of SD1 parts from India where they built the SD1 (it was known as the Standard 2000) under licence. It was what was left over from when production ceased and the parts had been there for a couple of decades or more. Keith Adams bought some of those parts when he had his early Series 1 SD1 restored in Poland.

There's still a few of us around from the previous forum who are still under the same monikers.

Steve, great to see you on here.

It seems so long ago that you were a regular at the Oxon Area meet and now so far away.

It is good that Alun has the car.

I don't get much time on Sprint matters these days, spare time over the last few years has been given over to racing Karts and we (me as race engineer and my lad as driver) have just won the British Championship http://www.tal-ko.com/championships-eve ... -super-one

Great to hear from you again Steve.
Do you remember doing the MoT on that yellow 1850 I rescued?

That car (HOH) is still around and owned by Geoff up in harrow. He comes on occasionally too.

As you can see Alun didn't have much luck with a timing chain tensioner....

Yes I do remember the Yellow 1850 Jon , good to see its still around. Certainly don't miss that MOT malarky .
I know the 'Quicksprint' is in good hands and I am sure Alun with have it back on the road at some point.
