Thought I would put a diagram up of my electric fan installation.

My diagram is not the best, and I may have over engineered a simple job, but
it's safe, and flows current and voltage the way I think it should ?

I don't think the inline fuse from 87 to the fan is necessary as you have the feed from 30 to the battery fused.

Unfortunately have had to stop work on the 123 dizzy due to a bad chest infection, coupled with my
asthma it does make for an awkward time, especially when illness strikes after getting the machined bits,
very frustrating.

However, I did some minor work (weather permitting) on the carbs, because the idle whether hot or
cold is never consistent from one day to the next.

I have previously changed a full service kit including the jets, needles, springs, float service, hoses pretty much
everything, but the problem always remains, varying from settings.

Having had enough I ordered a new set or carbs from Burlen in February 2017, and they believe the order will
be fulfilled by March 2018. I'm patient, but too anxious to find the problem to wait. So I ordered a set of std jets
(non waxstat).

Put these in and the problem presented itself immediately, the front carb jet was not always going back up flush
after pulling the choke out, and even then was lowering itself slowly on its own.

Both carbs out, all cleaned up, the choke spring cam all dismantled and compared and lubed, still the same.
6 hours later I just bent the linkage arm holding the jet. Sorted.

12 flats down on the jet height from bridge reset, idle screws totally up and then down to a touch, and all refitted.

The car is now idling and even on choke, smoother than it has ever been in my entire ownership, all adjustments
made are percievable and remain at setting day after day, even the novelty vacuum gauge on the manifold hardly
twitches anymore.

The waxstats removed were in the car for around 1 year, brand new and part of the major service kit, I think that
its sods law that a faulty one found its way to me.

Minor adjustments left to do, but have to wait a week or so.

You only need one fuse:

But I wouldn't do it like this as sooner all later I'll forget to switch the override off when I park and come back to a flat battery.

If the thermal switch can switch (not just carry) the fan load then do this:
Image
If the fan load is under 25A I would use a delay off relay to keep the fan running after stopping the engine.

If the thermal switch cannot switch the fan load then use two relays like this:

I would probably do this though:

Delay off relay in the left position.
I would use an override switch where the indicator is separately wired as I do not like having the full load through the dash.

Yep, just waiting for it to say payment due, I had problems with the new site and
couldn't get logged in quick enough, next thing you know, its full :(

Good news however is (for me) someone always pulls out or can't go, so I should be
in.

We are not far behind you! (3rd on the reserve list currently behind you and the Hull crew with the Gentry)
I'd be pretty much 100% sure you'll get in... pretty sure we will too.

I won't hijack your thread any further with RBRR stuff... but I'll probably start a TDC crew thread closer to the event so we can coordinate spares and tools across the teams from the club that are running in the event. Unless CT/RBRR organisers decide to run a spares list this time themselves - they didn't in 2014 last time we did the event.

Sounds like a plan
