More to the point, Mahesh, get on with the car. You've been slacking recently.

I only pulled down the carpet to remove the clevis pin and undo the two internal nuts. Did not fancy taking out the parcel tray again.

Don't forget the two nuts on engine side of the bulkhead.

Slacking

I've been out driving the car, hence the
pedal strenghtener.

James, let me know when you release a
pedal rubber from the vault

Na he's cool.... and the plate's on the right way up. You can see it on RUK being an auto which is what the plate is based on I believe.

You can get the servo off without taking out the parcel shelf. However, if you have strong manly hands like me access is rather tight!
James

Thanks for the info, whats the cut out on the plate for ?

Dave

That's where the clutch master cylinder normally goes.

But who needs a clutch when you have a bw!

The cut out is for the 3rd bolt and nut. The plate fits in a rather counter-intuitive fashion, you'd expect it to be vertical but it sits at an angle since it's purpose is not to reinforce the pedal bracket itself, but to stiffen the piece of tinfoil thick bulkhead between the pedal bracket and the wiring loom grommet hole which is where the crack appears.
I shall be using the bracket on the Dolomega, though it doesn't even HAVE a throttle cable, better to spend 10 minutes fitting the stiffener than several hours stripping out and welding up a freshly painted car!

Steve

Having had the bulkhead crack myself - to the big grommet hole - I can testify to the value of this mod....

Mahesh I would have a go at the corrosion under the servo. It looks to be still treatable...but be quick.
If your insulating pad is holding water there its doing you no favours...

Thank Jon,

I am treating the area, and will stick the pad back and put a bit of
silicone to stop any water going in from the seams, I'm even thinking
of following the bulkhead pad with silicone all around.

100% agree with Jonners here, NWL's bulkhead has done exactly that, cracked to the grommet. I had the same level of corrosion under the servo of RUK, I just ground it off, treated the metal and repainted.

Thought I would put the pics of the brake servo cleanup on,
hopefully in the right order,

I used red rubber grease in the seams of the grommets and seals, right
or wrong ?, but not happy with the colour, thinking I should have gone
for red :)

Bout time you posted an update! 8)

IMO I don't think you can go wrong with the red grease in anything rubber. If anything it will prolong the life of seals. Use sparingly though, like all grease it will attract grime and rubbish, which is why I use a dry line on my bike chain around here.

James, your posts are more dramatic, gives me a break :)

Got delivery of the new clutch kit from Larkspeed today, looks good,

hopefully it fits well when Steve puts it in, along with the centre prop bearing,
front and rear engine seals, and loads of other bits.

I think you might have over-greased that master cylinder.
