Thought I'd put up a picture of the window regulator handle mech, the grease inside has almost petrified,
dismantled and cleaned, it would be a lot smoother in use, shame it's not going back in service.

What a coincidence, the same door grommets, and central locking.

Also the same idea I have for the clutch cylinder with reservoir,.
Mahesh

Where did you buy your door grommets

Hi Mahesh, Lovely bit of paintwork ! Did you dismantle the throttle linkage bit completely for this ? My old 1850 one looks to be rivetted together and has a lot of side to side movement. It would need drilling to dismantle it I think.

And what does the spiral spring do in the window mechanism please ?
Thanks very much,

Tony.

Hi Tony

I didn't drill the rivets off the throttle linkage, namely because of a broken riveter, only masked off with paper and masking tape before spray painting.

If you mean the small thin spring, it goes inside the window regulator crank mech, clever little job, the spring has bent ends which coil the spring when the handle is turned and uncoil and provide friction when you stop, basically a dampner.

The spring is to assist when closing the window. When opening the spring winds itself partially by the weight and you winding. When closing it unwinds itself helping you to lift the weight of the glass again. Like the bootlid hinge springs.

Nice job! I've occasionally wondered whether a system could be made by combining Dolly and Stag parts.

For me I love the old handle but that's actually rather a good effort!

Are you going to use the handle to operate the electric Windows (via hidden switches)
