Quite out of character it was a blazing sunny day in the Lakes today so 969 got out & about.I took a few pictures at Helsington Church. The best ones were from the rear because of the sun, however here's a pick of them.
VA 969 is pretty much a new 73 sprint; every piece of suspension is as fitted in 1973, Metalastic bushes, Monroe shocks etc. The engine, head, gearbox & axle are origional to the car but totally rebuilt. Engine has been linered to standard bore. Tyres are new Dunlop SP sport formulae 70's.
I'll give more feedback when it's run in but initial impression is that it's very tourquey. I drive a BMW 320 M sport and it would give that a run for it's money. Obviously the Sprint is nearly 40 years old by design and is a lot more ..... "seat of the pants" but that's part of the fun.
This thread won't close here; I need to fit carpets and there's some snagging (door hanging, rear plate light wires, quarter light action, window sliders, correct washer pump. wire jubilee clips etc.etc.) and tuning to do so more to come yet.
Oh & one other thing, I can't stand still without talking to people who's dad grandad etc, etc used to have one of those. Parked at Asda today and thought I wouldn't get out.
