Hi all,

I just recently got hold of a pair of 45mm webers on a 2-piece manifold. It arrived in the mail today and I've just been looking at how the thermostat housing is meant to work.
I had a spare water pump cover in front of me and i just can't see how it's meant to go together.

Does anyone have any pics of a 2-piece setup?

Cheers,
Garth

Might the manifolds be for an 1850/TR7 8 valve?

Any photos?

Have you got some better pics of the stat housing Garth?

That's looking promising, if only i could look underneath the front carb and see what is happening with the water pump cover...

This manifold came of a TR7 converted to Sprint spec, it never occurred to me that the water pump cover would be different, but looking at this - they clearly are!

I think I have still a brand new set like this, very nice casting, must have a look in the shop.
Never bothered, because it is not homoligated anyway, but for a track day car perfect.

That TR7 works setup is a 3 piece package, 2 very short inlets and a thermostat housing, just borrowed that set to Jeroen for his coming rally car.

Does anyone have pics of a TR7 vs Stag water pump cover - are they the same?

No, the stag has a front outlet because of the extra cilinder row. The TR7 fuel injection models do not have the hole in the cover for the water tube.

Jeroen.

P.S. how does this housing sit on the engine??? With a bracket or just held up by the hoses?

Hi Jeroen,

Are you thinking of this pump cover?

Listed as "12 Vane USA Carb" here?

The TR7 water pump shown must be incorrect (Stag)?

I think the housing is held in place by the hoses (plus hopes and dreams...)

Yes, that's the one. The thick piece with the two holes holds the extra air valve of the L-jetronic.

I've worked out how the PO had the plumbing configured:

There's a big outlet coming out of the manifold which goes via 270deg into thermostat housing, from here it goes to the heater inlet and top of WP cover (no idea how this stays put, i'd guess lots of adhesive :()

Now, i think if i get hold of a TR7 FI water pump cover (prev posts) then i can delete the path to the top of the WP cover (i have no thermostat or impellor as i am running an EWP) then i'll just need to size the heater inlet hose up to fit...

Does this sound plausible, or have i lost the plot?

Your waterpump, does it run alway's or only when the stat is open. When the stat is closed and your pump is on, there must be a circulation. Normally that is the inlet on the pumpcover. When not using that you have to create another circulation, through the heater for example, but then you have to have the heater valve open when the thermostat is closed.
