Castle Combe Track Day, Tuesday 14 April 2015

This event is open to any car that is eligible for the Revington TR / TR Register Sprint and Hillclimb Championship. That means it must be a four wheeled Triumph, or Triumph derivative – full details of eligibility can be found in the Competition News pages of the TR Register’s website http://www.tr-register.co.uk/comp_news.php

Lessons learnt

You’ll be pleased to know that we’ve learnt the lessons from last year. We’ve paid extra for extra marshalling and so in 2015 we will have 12 cars, not six cars as in 2014, yes 12 cars on the track at any one time. The maximum entry of 48 cars will be divided into four batches of 12 cars. Each batch will have 15 minutes of track time every hour.

On arrival you’ll be directed to noise and scrutineering. At around 8.30 there’ll be a drivers’ briefing. Then it’s play time from 9am through to 5pm, with an hours break for lunch for the marshals.

Normal track day rules apply in that arms and legs must be covered, gloves are advisable and helmets compulsory. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own helmet as these will be available free of charge from the circuit – just remember to hand them back in at the end of the day or it’ll be my credit card that will be taking the pain. And please think about what you are wearing in the car. Ideally, it’s a race suit, but essentially it makes sense to wear something that isn’t flammable.

Track side support

Being a Triumph only event, you’ll find plenty of track side support should you need it, either from fellow entrants or spectators. And if they can’t sort you out, Neil Revington and his team will be there with the final back up being Merlin Motorsport who are based on the circuit.

What’s it gonna cost?

And so to costs. The price is up a little from last year to enable us to have 12 cars on the track at any one time. It’s still an amazingly cheap £90 / car, plus £10 for each additional driver. You’d normally have to pay around three times this for a track day at Castle Combe, so once again a very big thank you to the staff there for looking after us.

Book early through the TR Register online shop. Given the format for the day, we can’t accept more than the first 48 Triumph cars.

Entrance is free to spectators and supporters. It’d be great to see a good crowd there, urging the cars and drivers on.

If you have any questions please contact the TR Register office or use the forum or the championship’s facebook site at www.facebook.com/trhillclimb
