Oh, and it turned out that my Acclaim is a lot faster than the Toledo now, so I've had to buy another engine which is on its way with other go faster bits!

Unfortunately my 'Knock-off' go-pro camera decided it would only record for a short while before it stopped recording. The camera was still on but it just stopped recording. I had about two minutes of footage in all, which was just going around on the warm-up lap.

I've been though and checked all my footage and of the 58 122second segments I have 14 or 15 that are worth putting up! So I WILL get around to it, probably about 2 a day for the next week! Unfortunately the power lead fell out of the camera during the session where I had a good duel with Ian, so no footage of that!

And Mart, if you could PM me with how to link my YouTube clips to here, I would be much obliged!

Weather could have been better at midday but overall it was a great day and it soon dried out.

Thanks for posting that, loved it. Some weel kent posters in the video, and were you really keeping up with a 3.0L V8? :D
Great to see silly things like the original rear view mirror, keys jangling in the ignition, original dash etc, brilliant. :D

Just watched the final session starring me and Mart! I feel better knowing it took the whole session for you to overcome my 100 yard pitlane head start! The noise Gestapo may hate your car but I think it sounds ace!

and there's more..... Bored yet ?

I was hunting you down on this one Steve... I did spend a lot of time on the track without anyone around me as I went off at different times, it made it safer for me I think but prefer others closer for a better feel and makes for better footage...

It seems to me that you weren't quite as quick when you had no-one in sight to chase - but that may be an illusion!
One thing for sure, I definitely need a few more horses before next year! If only to hold off you and Ian! I still managed to see off a few TRs, but all the Dolomites are getting quicker, my miserable 130bhp is no longer "sufficient"!

You don't seem to be hanging about Steve. We all want more horses I suppose but I want to stick to an original engine which will restrict that. Some of the laps I did not push quite as hard and I agree I got sucked in to a good chase. I always have one eye on getting the old girl home and would love to have the flexibility of a trailer to and from. I will keep a keen eye on where your next increase comes from.

Well I have done a lot of suspension and brake development. And the crash diet I put the car on has helped enormously!

Now I am pretty content with the chassis improvements, it's time to go in pursuit of some more horses, secure in the knowledge that the chassis can handle it without killing me!

In the short term, a 4 branch and the long overdue remap should get me up around 150-160 bhp. Long term i'm looking into a 220 brake 16v turbo lump from a 2003ish Astra which will bolt up to my gearbox and mounts and won't affect the cars balance. But by then I think i'll need an LSD and that's BIG money!

I too drive my car to the track and when the red mist descends, have to remind myself that I need to drive it home too! I think the policy actually helps me keep my driving sane!

My inclination is to do it right or not at all! Several mates over the years have welded diffs for various reasons and I can't remember it ever turning out well. And Sprint diffs are getting too rare to destroy like this. I drive this car on a near daily basis and can't afford to break it often!
Sometime or another, an LSD will show up for the right price and i'll be happy!

Steve
