Post subject:  Albany Historic Racing weekend - Silver Sprint

Hi all
Some video footage from my Silver Sprint from my favourite event of the year. Albany is a small town in the south of Western Australia and each year (this was the 80th anniversary of the first event) they host a big historic motorsport event. The idea now is we are recreating motorsport the way it used to be and there are about 200 cars entered from pre-war up to around 1980 in the Around-the-Houses racing, obviously racing in different classes. There is a hill climb on the Saturday with the racing on the Sunday. Recorded fifth fastest time of the day in the hill climb behind a Rotary powered Fiat 500 rocketship, two 911s and a 260Z. Admittedly I had three dry runs when a lot of the field ran in the wet, but still very happy with the time and the result. Don't think I could go much faster. Sunday was brilliant. The only drama of the weekend was the Go-Pro running out of battery and not recording the last two races. Actually won the final event. The Around-the-Houses is a regularity event - you nominate a lap time and points are tallied for each tenth of a second you are above or below your nominated time. I didn't experience quite the traffic jam you will see in these two videos in that last event so the times were pretty consistent. Great end to a great weekend. Enjoy.
