Recent evidence: Mart's findings in the barn, the recent ebay car plus one, the recent ebay car plus four are showing significant numbers of vehicles probably turning their toes up.

I think we need to try and ascertain how many cars are now still registered at Swansea, particularly Sprints and then try to account for them in the memberships, adverts etc etc.

My conservative estimate of 250 - 300 Sprints left in UK may prove to be optimistic, in which case we need to start taking note of where these cars are/go to, and what happens to them, with a view to encouraging the survival of what is left...several folk on here for example purport to have 'spares' cars as an addition to a half decent one somewhere. Can the marque afford this luxury?

Ideas anyone...

I think we should include non registered as well, although this may be more difficult to ascertain.

I don't mind putting a simple database/spreadsheet together just with vehicle details on.

Well I can account for ABW 30V, British racing Green Sprint.

There is a lovely yellow one at home - met and talked to the owner as well, I could always find out the details on it.

There was the one that I "scrapped" as well, as all was left was a piece of paper with the details on it. I may have the registration left somewhere.

It would probably be best to start with the TDC membership database?

I can account for a few myself. I'd be happy for a database to be kept. Be nice to get another club listing as well if thats allowed.....

would swansea tell the club that sort of info - if we asked nicely and didn't request personal details? I reckon there are all sorts of rules on what they can give out, mind you there were only 20000 odd sprints weren't there - we could just type them all into the dvla search page - not!

From North America, the inventory of Dolomites is fairly easy to take account of.
There are about a dozen in the USA, mostly Sprints and 1 SE, all privately imported because none were offered in the USA, Canada or Mexico.

Richard Truett
importer of OMK 172R and OUD 777P, both Sprints

Well COD685T is my car and its Sorn'd with DVLA. Its obviously not likely to be a road car again so I'm not sure that should be counted?

Because they were the fewest produced, and are now the rarest?

I think that this is an excellent idea, and agree that it should not be restricted to the Sprint.

The fact is that ALL the Triumph Dolly type saloons are now getting ever thinner on the ground.

Witness the fact that there are only something like 30 FWD1300 TC's registered at DVLA, and the number of 1500TC Auto's is I believe a similar number (the last figure I saw was 32).

I should imagine that the number of Sprint Auto's left registered is similarly shocking.

This sort of data should deter people from scrapping these vehicles when they are manifestly repairable.

I think then it would be an idea for the club to update its records. Everybody who knows of the fate of a car let the club know, and then some poor sod can check each of the cars on the list held by the club of member's cars through the DVLA website (Actually I wouldn't mind doing this) to see what comes out.

Might be worth asking at the Triumph Forum to see if the other clubs could provide data on any of "our" cars as well.

Dave I don't mind checking some of the list on the DVLA's website and sending the details to whoever collates the db.
