Handbrake cable protection bushes

#1 Post by Flyfisherman »

Hi Gang@TDC
Does anybody know where I can purchase some of these handbrake cable protection bushes - I have contacted Ian (Sprint95) - Ian does not have any left.
MikeyB wrote: The handbrake mechanism went back in using a pair of BL cables and I used some of those bushes that Ian (Sprint95) had made. Bushes shown loose before fitting. They were a perfect fit -

Didn't we talk about having some made a while back as a club item?

Yes, but it was me who commissioned them (in other words I took all the financial risk).
Before I went ahead I started a thread to gauge interest. Disappointingly two TDC members who committed to purchasing failed
to come through with payment. However I was able to sell these sets through Dolly Mixture.

I contacted Malcolm England (TDC Spares) and the Club is not interested in stocking these because he feels there is likely
to be insufficient demand.
Since selling the last of these bushes I have had three or four enquiries. (I have also been contacted by folk who wanted me to
give them copies of the drawings  .)
The minimum quantity I can get made is 100 (25 sets).
As it stands I am unlikely to get another batch made.
There was an article published in Dolly Mixture about this.

Curiously I was strongly criticised by one TDC member on this forum for having had these bushes recommissioned, on the grounds
that these are readily available from the Triumph specialists. If that was true I would have gone and bought some.

Topic for AGM I think. As a club we have spares funds for such things.

So what are you going to use when you rebuild the hand brake system your new shelled sprint.

Well unless more are available then I will struggle! I'm up for a set but we'd need a fair few more to commit and say Yes on this basis.

Ian,

May I suggest that you write a proposal to the club comittee to have these held as stock? You are best placed to provide minimum quantities and supply price. :)

Good news then :clapping: well done Ian.

Will these be made available for Fucture club member to purchase or will they be resticted to TDC members only and do we have a ball park price for a set of four (4) bushes.

Paul.

These will be sold by the TDC Spares Service which is to members only.
The price will be set by them, however I am sure it, to use a cliche, won't break the bank  .
