Re: Over on Retro Rides....
I've got to admit (me "apparently" being a design student and all) that the Dolomite in the right hands could make a rather beautiful convertible if done correctly.
If i was to take out the conversion, i'd make sure i used the dolomite as a base and not the Toledo. The longer rear over hang on the Dolly will give the finished chop top and much more elegant and settled look. I'd elongate the doors, and totally remove the roof and windscreen assembly. I could then adapt the body to accept an MGB roadster's chrome windscreen and surround which would bolt onto the dollys body.......
..... Actually the more i think about it, the Dolomite range really did have too high a bonnet line for it to look right. I suppose it was the curse of the FWD 1300.
Did Crayford ever professionally convert any Dolomites? Like they did with the Ford Corsair and BMC 1100 Range. Or how about Mumford, the coach builder who made the convertible Morris Marina?

Re: Over on Retro Rides....
A brave attempt, but like the ute and estate conversions, not my cup of tea. Good that someone else has done it so I don't have to repeat the mistake !
