STAR90 / TDCIR 2013 - 19 May 2013

#1 Post by Triumph1300 »

This is in the main part of the forum to gain peoples attention!

This event is a celebration of 90 years of Triumph, and is also the celebration of 40 years of the 1500TC, and Dolomite Sprint.

We are hoping to have a big presence at the Show, and as such, have 2 areas allocated to us.

If you are going to the event, please book in advance, cost for the Sunday is I believe £5 per car. Booking details are in the Events category

There are other events on the Saturday, including some of us running round Prodrives proving ground, and also a road run.

If you are going, please advise us, so that we as a club can plan accordingly.

This is in the centre of England at Gaydon - I'd love to make our presence felt by having 100 Dollys, Tollys, FWDs etc there, just to remind people that we exist, and are promoting these vehicles.

See you there, even if I have to push KAC there!

ADMINS - Can this be stickied please?

I wasn't aware that we had to book in for the Sunday event, I thought it was turn up and pay on the gate!!

How many other people think this? and if you don't book in is there the option to pay on the gate?

A lot of members don't have internet access.

Nathan,
Pages 20, 21,22 of April-May Dolly Mixture.

You do not have to pre book but the more that do the easier and faster it is for entry.
The main issue is if lots of people are looking / waiting for change, the traffic will back up onto the road causing congestion, safety issues, possible bent rear ends or worse.

Marsh
Coventry & Warwicks area rep. See DollyMixture for details.
Meet at Standard Triumph Social Club,Herald Avenue, Canley, CV5 6UB. Last Wednesday of month from 7:30pm.

STAR 90 / TDCIR Gaydon Parking Details

TDCIR parking at Gaydon is the upper plateau which is effectively the top of the hill adjacent the beacon, overlooking Club Triumph parking area on the lower plateau and the front of the Museum where the STAR 90 action is. Access to the main area is a short walk down the hill via a footbridge over the ditch.

On arrival a TDC volunteer will be available to hand out the blue identification sheet (this is not an entry ticket) which should be displayed so STAR 90 Marshals can direct you to TDCIR. Once through the ticket point the TDC area is straight on at the roundabout at the top of the spine road. Do not turn right to the museum if you want to park in the TDCIR area. The link road to our area (and Club Triumphs) is by good hardcore track so will be ok. The grass area is firm so should be no problems parking, heavy rain might change that but current Met Office guess (with the help of monster computing power) is showers and light rain for the week ahead.

Adjacent to our area is a children’s play area for younger members and space to run around for the energetic. Ideal for a family picnic. ‘Dolomite Towers’ the club Marque will be available with regalia sales etc.

Timings
0730 Site opens for exhibitor setup. Our team of volunteers will be there to set up, organise displays and drink coffee etc

0800 Opening for traders. Display cars are requested to aim for arrival to give time for arranging layout before it gets crowded

0830 Gates open for visitors. TDC marshals will be in place to hand out blue TDCIR forms (A4 sheets of paper). These are purely to assist STAR 90 Marshals in directing cars to the correct parking area. Our marshals will be at the parking area to direct parking. We hope to arrange a nice line of cars overlooking the arena, gleaming in the sunshine they will look great!

0930 Displays ready for public access

1000 Arena events commence

1630 Arena events conclude

Excellent day all round,a what a result on the weather!!!!!
It isn't Orange!!!!!!
The other one wasn't Purple either!!!
One of the new ones will probably be green, very green.
Another new one is green too but not as green as the previous one. Still pretty green. No, now it's Blue.
The other new one will be white with stripes. Actually it might not. No, it will be.

A most enjoyable day indeed. Ted said it had been a rare treat for him, though having asked me twice on the M42/M40 where we were going, it may not even be a distant memory for him today.

Good to meet Jeroen and put a face to the name (not what my mental image had created at all!) and sorry to hear he'd not quite managed the distance in a Triumph; should have used a Dolomite!

The downsides of the day:

1: STAR90 organisers seemingly treating Dolomites and our anniversaries as some form of poor relation: no mention of them in the literature, no ring time, shoving us as far away as possible with a smaller club display between us and them.

2: Gaydon seemingly monopolising the catering with no food available except in their cafe, which being all the way around the back was at the limit of what an 86 year old could cope with, and then charging over £18 for two lunches of p155 poor pies and cold chips was disappointing to say the least
