I think a sprint for high days and holidays
A project for the long term, something a little challenging
A daily driver, tidy, reliable, engine size dependant on length of trip, but 1500 is ideal for me.
Some kind of towing vehicle for recovery of your own and other club members cars, and collection of rescue cars etc
Something for the wife, ideally a triumph, but that doesn't work round 'ere

Now I've started on this, I now need a bigger garage!

At least 4 Sprints:

1) Race car - built to comply with regulations
2) Track day car - built to be as quick as possible with no restricting rules (but still Sprint powered)
3) Fast road car - quick but road legal and with carpets, trim etc.
4) Standard - daily driver (well, nearly standard)

5) Trailer for 1 & 2
6) Something to tow 5 with
7) Camper van - for cheap holidays as no money left after 1 - 6.

My present 1850 (sentiment)

A Dolomite Sprint as original as pos and in Mimosa.

A 2 door Toledo converted to a pick up - never seen it done but think it would make a useful conversion for lugging stuff about in.

A Toledo TS Replica

FHC TR7 V8

The perfect mix is what's in my garage -- 3 overhead-cam Triumphs:

1973 Stag
1977 Dolomite Sprint
1981 TR7 Sprint DHC

You've got Triumph's supremely stylish luxury grand tourer, one of the coolest small sports saloons ever and the sports car that would have done Triumph proud had it been born with the 16V engine and 5-speeder.

You've got cars for all seasons and all reasons.

Concentrating on the how many to begin with... I say 5.

For my use I maintain three road legal. One to use, one in scheduled maintenance or resting and one spare in case the one in use breaks. Then there's the wifes car and a long term project. Five.

For me the what are: Orange, Blue and GT6, the wifes Mini and the Spitfire (Sprintfire maybe/hopefully). Blue tows anything I ask short of whole cars .

VA41, the wifes moped, and the father in laws '48 roadster are distractions I could do without.

I'd like to get
- Orange more reliable (bloody downpipe), and safe (shocking shocks & rubber).
- Blue in a state I can rally it but still road legal for when needs must.
- GT6 a bit more user friendly (so it rains less on the inside than out would be nice).
- The sprintfire for trackdays and mad summer days.
- The mini is where I want it, it gets the absolute minimum to keep it going, and it does keep going and going and going.

Fives right.

480Hrs @ 14/03/2024
This is time taken at the Sprint not necessary time worked.

Working on a ratio of just 7Hrs a day not including driving to the Sprint.
That equals to 68 days that doesn’t include weekends.

a small one for short trips
a big one for putting stuff in (engines ect)
a street sleeper (aka a big one)
an even bigger one for rescuing the broken down big one
one with two wheels
one sat doing nothing being spares car
one sat awaiting restro.
and one 'projest hush'

not my perfect idea of a collection but it will do for now.

I'd be happy with about 50. There are about 50 on my wish list.

Maybe not at the same time though :)

First one I intend to cross off - De Tomaso Pantera. When I sell that, I'll buy a 69 Pontiac Firebird and a mint 308GTB, and so on...

lewis i dread to think whats on your list, you're like a small ginger JK from jamiroquai (as opposed to JK n joel)

:funny:

my current list is:

orange - fast road sprint, toy for weekends n shows, in bits
white - toledo sprintation project, possibly track car, dunno yet, but probably wont stay magnolia
stealth - 1500SE, bought to repair n rescue from doom, job 75% done, awaiting bodywork/paint then sale, or sale as is.
blue - laguna 06 1.9dci, bland rep-mobile filled with electronic crap
silver - vtr 1000, not used very much noise making 160mph car killing thrash machine, only fun in the warm n dry, just a man-toy-thing but probably going to sell it.

the mrs has a rover 214 (25 shape)

the SE will go one way or another, the bike may just go or be exchanged for a KTM traily thing. 3 cars and a bike is more than enough for me, i can only use 1 at a time!!!

I'm quite happy with what I have at the moment, but if I were to add to the list:

A mint Sprint, that would live in a garage and spend its life being pampered.

A mint Lotus Sunbeam.

Phil, I couldn't make a V8 sprint if I tried!

(and you have two anyway!)

My sprint is a good start though...

And as a daily driver, maybe a V8 is a bit pricey on fuel?

And lovely as the the missus is, and prepared as she is to drive the dolly home if I have had one too many, she won't be parted from her mini, so I reckon I need 3 minimum - and that landie does come in right handy. If yours breaks down (which it probably won't now you have a modern engine, but just in case.....) I can tow something dolly size no problem, and if you don't want that option, I bet I can find a bloke in recovery who woud give you a hand..... :D

Hmmmm, wow what a difficult decision.

1. 1300 Dolly 'cos she's lovely really.
2. Bloody big Volvo - for winter, towing and scaring the crap out of dopey Borehamwood drivers (it works too).
3. A Jag. Any Jag really (apart from weedy 2.9 litre version cos it's poo).
4. A replacement for Gigi - white or baby blue.
5. Honda Prelude - without a knocking shock, slippy autobox, knackered seats or rust - just for hooning around in. Great fun.
6. Topless Herald. I just like 'em.

So there you go. Not masses of cars but enough for me. Shame I don't have the space or the money. If I did I would buy back Big White Dolly and add her to the list for the sheer hell of it.
