Just wondered what everybody's opinion was on whether to have lay up insurance or not.

My car is currently un-driveable and in a secure garage.

I have it insured for fire and theft at the moment and it still coming in at £62. I know it's not much if something were to happen, but the likelihood of something is small I think.

Just thought I would canvas opinions.

You can get laid-up cover for your classic. As with any other type of insurance, it is wise to shop around for a few quotes. It goes without saying that the car should be properly insured once it is on the road (this includes going to and from the MoT). I pay less than a ton for fully comp so I just keep the policy in place then I can just jump in the car whenever I feel the need to.

I have always had the Jensen on an agreed value laid up policy when it has not been properly insured, used to £40 but had gone up to £70 when I put it back to full insurance last year.
I guess it depends on what you think the risk is and how much value you put on the car. Mine also covered accidental damage.
