Hi all.
Ok, I've searched for this info. More confused than ever.
Could anyone advise the colour required for the air filter box on a sprint?
I'm stuck?
It's not fergason grey or duck egg green surely?
Is the colour available in a can ?
Thanks,
Daz

BMX Dove grey is a good match though I've seen some late cars with black ones. Mine will be grey. Get yourself to B.S. supplies in Cobridge and they will mix you a can.

Early brochures from BL show it as black, as do the later ones. I've seen a '76 BL brochure with a grey filter box.

My original 75 and 79 cars both have black, but in my spares I have acquired a grey one at some point. Can't link that to a specific car / year though.

Given it was BL in the 1970s, maybe there is a degree of randomness - change in suppliers, lack of specification from BL to suppliers, who knows. Was the colour dependent on what the body colour was?

I've also seen both black and grey on TR7s.

I suspect this question will only ever solicit opinions, not a definitive answer. Therefore paint it whatever you like!

Some had black some had grey, I think it just depends on what was in the parts bin at the time.

I used a Ford Dove Grey, seems to match well.

Mines one of the last cars with a grey TR7 Sprint air box!
