Had one of those for 20 years or more. At least it looks identical. Only used the smallest bit,and yeas, 3/16 pipe, ideally kunifer.
The tool works but you need a very clean cut of the pipe. Good thing is you can make the pipe to really fit. The last automec set I fitted all the pipes were a bit too long, which is worse than it sounds. That is when I bought the tool......
Got to disagree with you Clive, which is a rarity indeed
.
I have a professional flaring tool (which costs about £120 today I think) but needed to flare bigger pipes
so bought a cheap flaring set as it was readily available (unlike the dies for the tool I had).
Whilst said cheap tool does work it is hard going. I have now sourced the dies.
Unbeknown to me a friend already had one of these sets which I could have borrowed,
he has had me make up brake pipes for him, which rather says what he thinks of his flaring tool?
I am thinking Rich would be better advised to be buying ready made from Steve.
Kunifer brake pipe sets (and individual or bespoke pipes) have been available to TDC members for quite a number of years at cost price (which is under £30 delivered)
but the uptake has been very underwhelming at precisely one set to date.
