Post subject: Turning over engine 2
PostPosted: Wed Sep 06, 2017 8:27 am
Hi all,
Now I know what size socket I need to turn over my second-hand engine, I wondered what I need to do to the engine before turning it over.
Is it worth putting new oil in it and should I spray WD40 down the spark plug holes?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

I would probably have a peak at the valve gear first, easy to get the cover over and just to see if anything is obviously seized.

Otherwise just try and turn it over by hand; you're unlikely to be able to do any damage as long as you stop if something feels obviously stuck.

Good luck and I hope it isn't seized.
