In June of this year I was handed, by mistake, an invoice for a Sprint engine rebuild. It had needed everything doing, re-bore, pistons, crank, head rebuild, everything. The total was the first thing I looked at, and swooned, was £5,000.00. Mine only went in for an MOT and a bit of welding to the rear of the cill and whilst you've got it you may as well do the oil and grease it etc. to save my arthritic back.

I had to ask how was it so much and the reply I got was the pistons, the machining of the slant bores, the head work, new camshaft valves etc., crank and rods, it all mounted up, and the labour. Didn't dare ask what chain tensioner they had used.
