There are a number of relatively cheap Brake fluid testers on the market which provide an indication of the absorbed water content.
I would be interested to know peoples experience. Are they any good?

We have one at work, they are quite neat. However it's easier to just bleed some fresh fluid through every 2-3 years.

Both myself and my wife drive dolomites as our everyday cars and as we have two others that we us on high days and holidays I seem to spend too much time under them already so using the brake fluid tester might help to cut this down. The wife was also asking what I wanted for a birthday present and I thought she could afford to spend £22 on me. For anyone who is interested Machine Mark sell one manufactured by Gunson and Moss sell one manufactured by Lazer.

I have 5 Litres of brake fluid which has been tightly capped, but I want to make sure it's OK before filling the braking system. :|

I have one of those cheap ones and seems to be OK after intermittent use over a period of 3 years or so. Just remember to take the battery out.
