Will a set for an 1850 fit a Sprint?

(Apols for he lack of words but I've been talking/typing a lot today and I'm running out of them...)

Dont think so,the sprint has a different rear hose connection,i had my own hoses made,not sure if the club sale them,ive seen them on ebay but there dear

You will need to change the union on the pipe where it goes into the bias valve.


And the Flexi pipes are about £10.

There are single and dual circuit versions of both models, but assuming you have the correct version, the only metal pipe that is different between the 2 is the rear section of the front to rear pipe, which, on the Sprint is a tad shorter and has a male union on the rear end where the 1850 has a female. This is to allow for the Load sensing valve which is only fitted to Sprints.

Be warned that most available kits of metal pipes are made with a tad of extra pipe included in each piece.

Whilst there are 9 metal pipes on a single circuit car and 10 on a tandem system, I have so far found 19 separate different pipes for Dolomite and Toledo models and this does not include FWD cars

Thank you very much for your info - that should help me get the right set sorted out for the rebuild.

Anyone know about how much longer the 1850 F->R pipe is than the Sprint? (I know it won't be a much as an Eric Morecombe stride...)

What sort of time scale are you looking at?

Available only to TDC members, I make up brake pipes at cost.
I only use kunifer. These sets are way cheaper than the copper sets on ebay.....?

To make a set I need the dimensions of each pipe and the type of unions (male or female).


I don't have any kunifer pipe so will need to order some.
The last complete set I did a couple of years ago was about £26 including postage,
but the prices will almost certainly have risen since then (I was paying 12p/union
but this has maybe doubled or trebled).

I have all the exact measurements taken from carefully straightened OE steel pipes.

When there's some daylight tomorrow, i'll look it up, the book is in the garage and it's snowing here ATM!

To Ian, I finally managed to source some 7/16 UNFx 3/16 pipe male unions for the front circuit on the Tandem PDWA. Even buying in bulk, they worked out at over 30p each! You're not wrong about price hikes!

I've actually already bought a set via ebay and received a set for a Tandem-circuit Sprint.

The seller is very helpful and is trying to reconcile lengths of the 2 rear pipes, so any info would be useful.

I'm just learning how much is available via this club! :D

Is yours a tandem circuit car then? I kinda assumed it was an early car! Dual circuit was only fitted from late 78 (VA 30000>?) onwards (apart from export cars) Most of the front pipes on a tandem set aren't compatible with a single circuit car.

Front to rear pipe (rear section) lengths are as follows:- Sprint, 1295mm, 1x female and 1x male union, all other models 1189mm, both female unions. All unions are 3/8" unf imperial, the 3 rearmost pipes are common to single and tandem circuit models.

This is good stuff - thank you.

Mine is single circuit - the ad was rather misleading as it said "1973 on" but had the words "Tandem system' hidden deep in his blurb....
