... Those that have this made of a glued cardboard ring have a history of letting go of the cardboard ring that then clogs the filter.
I learned about that the hard way (before the interweb). Cost me about £600 to have my engine rebuilt.

I can't remember what the original problem was but I've only ever bought them from the club since! |

Oh bggr. I've just bought a couple of filters and went for MANN thinking they'd be ok.... Turns out they have the card rings rather than the rise in the casing. Looks like I wasted my money and need to source some more from the club or something. |

Don't beat yourself up about it, I've seen Unipart branded ones with cardboard rings! The problem with automotive parts supply is there is a lot of brand engineering that goes on; SUPRA for example, didn't make much, if anything, they just bought in stock and reboxed it! |

I just bought a TR7 one from Fitchetts a couple of weeks ago, can't remember the make, i'll have to find the box, but it's proper with a raised metal ring at the top. Not stupid money either!Looks like I wasted my money and need to source some more from the club or something. Steve |

We did make some stuff. A colleague reckoned he once witnessed me doing some work, but I think I got away with it.
