Post subject:  Plastic wheel arch liners

Hi,

This may appear to be an odd ball thread/question but has any member used and fitted plastic wheel arch liners from modern cars to their Dolomite as underbody protection?

If so, which car did they come from and were there any problems fitting them?

Thanks in anticipation.

Regards,

Steve

Clean the arches and a good quality sealant will do the job. the risk with liners is when cud does get in you can't clean it out.

I think Dave ("New to this" is his forum handle) has modded some Saab 9-3 ones to do the job, on the front at least.

I've fitted Saab 9-3 front arches, there bigger than you need,so it's easy to trim them to suit, the outer edge fits round the edge of dolomite arch,to hold the inner part to the car, used the original boots to hold the splash panel in place, then used plastic clips to hold the rest of the arch in place,
There's only one small section that needed fiberglassing where it was to small

Hi Dave (and Steve),

Thanks for the information. I wanted to save a finite resource, my steel wings/arches, I was looking to use Ford KA types, the wheel sizes are similar and visually they look to cover most of the Dolomite arch. I also want to try to fit them to the rear arches, sealing everything together with a good seam sealer.

Steve

Not this. They are left with gaps for a reason, so air can circulate and water / grit / mud can get out again. See what happens when misguided folk fill-in the gap between the bottom of the wing and the sill on a Spridget for example

Originally I tired an Astra arch but that didn't fill the gaps enough, did also look at Ford Ka,but fit of the Saab was so much better around the wing arch
