Post subject:  TR7 head gasket recommendations

Despite my car playing games with me and the HG weep having stopped, I want to pull the head and replace the gasket. Last thing I want is it to let go on the RBRR, probably at JOG.....

So, any pointers on who makes/sells the best available gasket? Payen seems unavailable from the normal retailers. Which is rather annoying.

(and I have sussed it is different to the 1850 gasket, and strictly speaking this is a Dolly forum, but plenty of people have tr7 engines in them)
Cheers
Clive

Hi Clive , When I did my 1850 headgasket 4 years ago I just used the Rimmer's offering and its been fine. I imagine their TR7 gasket will come from the same source.
PM on way btw.
Tony.

Hmm, a certain law would suggest 20 miles before JOG. If we limped there at least we could indulge is a decent brekkie and gallons of tea
whilst waiting for recovery. But that would take a day or so to get home! Must say, beautiful area, and the drive down after breakfast is an absolute joy.

Clive, T.D. Fitchett and S&S Preparations are other specialists worth considering.

Sorted as I bought the one listed by Alun.

I am paranoid about head gaskets, had poor results with some aftermarket ones (was at a friends place yesterday, he had HGF on his GT6 after a very short time, and replaced with a payen now. The one he took off looks perfect, but leaked oil from the side of the head)

But yes, Robsport have been good with other stuff. TDF I have mixed feelings about, too many failures of mechanical/recon stuff.
