Does anyone know of an easy to understand step by step guide to setting up these carbs on a sprint? Car is running very rough. Petrol started dripping out of the rear carb today, via the trumpet, then stopped, then started again when engine was running, smelt very rich too. What pressure should the fuel be? Chris. |

Hi Chris, I have the Dellortos on the Lotus. Assuming all the jets are clean and the float valve has the correct clearance to the cover ( with the gasket fitted ) and the float valves themselves are good, I use a Gunson's carb; balancer to initially set the throttles ( I do like the clever differential linkage ) then I Colourtune pots 1 and 4; then reset the "suck" at the trumpets. That seems to work well for me. Dellorto used to do a very useful booklet on dismantling, re-assembly and setting up . I can't see it listed on their web-site any longer though. The two manuals they still do are about 2/3 the way down on the home page. https://www.dellorto.co.uk/ I'll have another look for it later. Tony. |

Hi Chris, I found this book to be very useful and a very straightforward guide to refurbishing and setting up these carbs. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Build-Power-De ... r+dellorto I had the same problem with fuel dripping out of the rear carb when I put them back on a couple of weeks ago after a rebuild. There was an air leak as I hadn't tightened up the mounting to the manifold enough. I'm running 45DHLAs with a road camshaft (TT10104). I can send you the specs later if it would help. Gives you something to start from. Andrew |
