Need some help on what’s happening to my water pump. Just returned from a 1650km 4 day drive in British Columbia had no problem but now notice some white stains on the block below the pump. Had no temp issues and still don’t On my trip car temp only reach just below 3/4 that was going over the mountain passes. I do have a new 12 vane impeller but would need the cover and oil rings & seals if i need to replace any thought would be appreciated. No sprint parts here.

A car that has stood for a while can weep from the water pump slot temporarily when brought back into use, and often the pump will resell itself so long as the underside of the impeller isn’t too badly pitted/corroded. So maybe a sudden long trip can have the same effect? Pushing it to 3/4 won’t have helped; I’d be turning on the heater blower before 3/4!

If you aren’t losing volume, I’d clean off the staining and monitor until your confidence is restored...or otherwise.

I've moved the thread here because it is a technical question.

I use the car often this trip was my car club annual Boys run 18 triumphs and lots of hard driving so maybe was a leak not sure why the white stuff maybe some oil and water then dried on the block. I will monitor no other long trip until mid August then into the US for a triumph show.
Any suggestions on where to buy the water pump cover etc.

Tony Hart Stag?

He's doing complete 6 vane and 12 vane pumps at £145 including vat and £50 surcharge, you MAY get the vat off which would be £29, but I'm guessing with shippings costs you would kiss the exchange surcharge goodbye. Might as well ask him to ship all seals etc for a recon of your existing pump, that way you have a spare and save on shipping.
Or he does repair kits for £23.50. Then you may need to faff with your old pump, once you start you can't stop.......
Covers - Rimmer Bros have 12 vane covers for £18.

Thank you for all the info I think I will get the 12 vane cover and all seals etc. That way i can have all the parts if needed. Is there a list of seals o rings needed.

The Rimmers 12v covers are a recasting, not OE. See item 127 in Jon Tilson's things.

As for pump repair kits, see this thread:

This might be closer for you:

I don't see covers listed, but you could ask them. They also have the water pump listed, but a bit pricey.

maybe i should have asked this question first. Did Triumph ever install 12 vane water pumps if so what year. I have no info on what repairs made other than i think the jack shaft was replaced.

I have fitted a number of the Rimmers upgraded ceramic ringed pumps and they are fine.

They buy them in same as Robsports, I think its a company that produces them for Stags.

The move to 12 vane was around chassis number VA19866

It is Hart Racing Services, stag specialists, who do the ceramic inserts.
