Hi, I'm looking for some advice from any of my fellow Aussie Sprint drivers who have fitted the Trackerjack brake upgrade. I would like to know specifically which calipers you used or at least which cars available in Aus. have calipers that are compatible. Thanks in advance.

Hi Rod,
I think some of the NSW guys have them - there is this for sale on ebay at the moment...

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/triumph-dol ... _Auction=1

I think you could make your own with a trip to a you pull it style wreckers for alot less... they seem to be using RX7..

Where abouts are you located? I am in SA..

Cheers
Steve

The Trackerjack system will take a variety of Ford calipers, though originally designed for Sierra, because of the dearth of Sierra caliper CARRIERS in the UK (calipers still available) we have turned to other models. Basically what you are looking for is a Ford with 240mm discs on it. These include (but not limited to) most Ford Ka, some Fiestas (around mkIV) some Escorts/Orions and of course the Sierra 2.0 that started it. So take a tape measure down to your local scrappy and get measuring!

PS that 4 piston RX7 setup is lovely, but needs 15" wheels to fit! IME Sprint owners are more attached to their Sprint standard alloy wheels than they are to their firstborn! So anything that means having to lose said alloys is a no-no! The TJ system is not the biggest you can get, but it IS the biggest you can get under stock Sprint alloys as it was specifically designed to do so!

Being the exception to the rule, I have made a TJ setup for my much modified automatic Sprint which uses the TJ caliper brackets, but
incorporates bigger 256mm VW Passat discs and Puma calipers - but which requires at least a 14" rim......... Takeup on the idea has been exactly zero!

Thanks for your input, I have decided to stay with the original wheels, had seen that ebay post, which needs 15 in wheels.
I'm from Appin NSW.

Thanks Steve (carledo) for the very good description of my mod that came from building a kit car and finding the donor Sierra had brand new brakes fitted while I had a sprint with standard pathetic brakes.

A bit of fettling and machining later I had a sprint that stopped as well as it went! That was in the late 90's and here we are 20 years later and the breakers yards are devoid of Sierra's, which themselves are considered "classics".
Luckily many kit cars still have Sierra type brakes fitted so obtaining calipers is easy but the slider part which bolts to the brackets that I still make are getting difficult to find.

Good advice to go with a tape rule to a breakers because having built one kit car and 2 specials (one of which I still love driving) that is exactly what I have done on numerous occasions.

Happy hunting RodTsprint

Jon
