i ordered a new cable and the mechanic was having difficulty fitting it into the gearbox end. that end of the cable seemed like the cable had been squashed somewhat, the bit that went into the speedo itself had a squared off end which is what shape my mechanic thought it should be in the gearbox as thats what the original cable was like. i rang rimmers who reconed they'd send me the wrong one so sent a replacement exactly the same. has anyone any experience of these cables please

Should have squared off profile at both ends.

I have various NOS cables in my lock up, I need to go there over the weekend, so I’ll see if I have one of what you need...

I only have RWD cables; does anyone know if the gearbox and speedo head interfaces are the same? Extra length of cable could surely be accommodated somewhere?

Admittedly I don't know how the rwd cable terminates but the fwd one is retained by a plate attached to the cable and a small bolt, this end would also be squared.

Excellent diagram, thank you; it also shows a bayonet at the speedo head. I’ll see what I have...
