I need to replace my Vinly roof material and looking for a supplier of a precut kit including the two side panels. The problem I live in Canada so would need to ship over.
Any info on suppliers would sure help.

Dennis, have you tried looking around locally to you?
The material employed for a vinyl roof is used by upholsterers.

Also, was it not used a lot on Fords in North America during the 70s?
Or what about the custom car suppliers?

As a complete aside, I am doing almost the opposite to you Dennis,
on my Sprint I am going to remove the vinyl roof altogether.
To me a VR is unnecessary weight stuck on the roof (I haven't tried to weigh one
but it must be over 5 or 6kg?).
Whilst I definitely prefer the uncluttered appearance of early Dolomites and 1500s with
a body coloured roof, I may well opt to paint the Sprint's roof black.

Question related to the Vinyl roof. I am Sprinting a 1500 and decided to reject the Vinyl on the grounds it is a rust trap. Is that true? Do vinyl roof cars rust more?

I think they only rust because they didnt waste a lot of paint on the roof if it was getting vinyl roof. A good painted roof with a scotch brite surface to give the glue a key should be fine.

The vinyl roof isn't waterproof and requires painting. If this is not kept up with.......

So it is like a house with a flat roof, you have to seal it every so often?

Thanks for all the replies I also thought about painting but wanted to try to stay with the original appearance also to maintain my BC govt collector insurance as car should be original. Checked out Littleport Boat Haven site looks good they have a kit, asked them if they can supply the Pillars also. Has anybody used this company.
We do have companies that have done this work but easier to have precut kit.
Thanks again to everyone

I have removed my vinyl roof recently and the paint underneath is just primer with a very light dusting of body colour. There was no rust under it, although I did expect to find some.
Think you will find with the side trims they were originally a plastic moulded panel.
To stretch and glue a piece of vinyl is a tall ask and will require heat to make the piece pliable.
I have seen cars with a separate stitched seam hidden when the the door is closed.
I will have it to do when mine returns from paint.

Not really Trevor.

You do it in stages starting with the flat external section.
The contoured bits are then done one at a time.

For this type of work, I use Evo Stick contact adhesive.

As you have alluded to, it is better to do this task in a heated garage or better still, outside on a hot day.

Just going to do the side panels, hopefully tomorrow, with David Parnell. Have two types of vinyl to try. Intention is to do one piece similar to original. Many replacements are two piece stitched at the door edge (Martrim do them like this) as getting the curves in one piece is difficult.

My sprint has stitched style but the door seals are pulling them away when the doors are opened (poor adhesive hasn't helped (lucky they don't get used much!!)).

Motorcycle seat vinyl works best and use a high temp contact adhesive. You'll be surprised how hot those panels get in the sun.
