The legendary Motörhead frontman & bassist died yesterday at the age of 70. He was also a member of Hawkwind.

Lemmy sang the vocals on "Silver Machine".
Story is that he did it first time in a single take after the other band members had all tried and failed.

On the documentary (?) "The Decline of Western Civilisation" Lemmy did come across well.
He could be an interviewer's worst nightmare though, due to his cutting wit. I remember watching Jo Whiley struggle.....

Ian.

I was fortunate to have met him almost 30 years ago at a Motorhead gig and he was a thoroughly decent bloke.

I also have tickets for their Swindon gig in January which would have been my fifteenth time!! He will be missed.

George

When I was about 14 I had a poster of him sitting on a hand painted matt black TR7 coupe, with the band's motif painted onto the bonnet.

So distraught it has taken me this long to write anything.
He was my youth, seen them and met him numerous times. Like you George had tickets to see them in Jan at Manchester.
What you see is what you get with Lemm, direct, sarcastic, quick witted wouldn't suffer fools and was the perfect gent, treating his fans with respect.

Gutted, this is the first signature I got its on my 'head jacket and embroidered over.
